Torquay

I went the other evening....

Entrance £8

Popcorn £4.50

Drink £2.75

Never had sweets, but in order for it come to £50 they would have had to cost £35 a packet.....

They have to pay the salaries somehow for the people who work there, I've watched movies and there's only been a handful of people in the auditorium, so for the building to make money, they put a massive mark up on the consumables, take ya own munchies that's what I do

Turn left at the Singing Ringing Tree

I used to work for a well known cinema group. The only way cinemas make their money is from the food, drink and ice cream sales, plus a small percentage of ticket sales.

The majority of money taken for admission is actually paid to the companies who have made or distributed those films. Cinemas only 'rent' the reels for a period of time.

To safeguard their revenue, cinemas have the right to refuse entry to a screen of anyone who tries to enter with their own food and drink.

South West London / Surrey

Haven't been to the cinema for a few years. Think it was when I took our daughter to see Garfield 2.

Always end up sitting next to a screaming kid or someone that has a conversation all the way through.

Much rather wait till it comes on DVD...

(Miserable buggar I know )

You dont need to buy the sweets, pocorn and drinks and go on the cheap days. Things can cost as much as you want them to cost.

East Grinstead

One chain does a subscription package, so if you go a lot may be worth it. Obviously hoping to make more via food sales.

the good lands, the bad lands, the any where you may want me lands

Arrange a cinema meet with a disabled fab friend with a CEA card and split the admission cost for just one ticket! Alternatively take along a visually impaired person pay the entrance admission, watch the film all the way through, then return to the box office and mention that the audio describe headphones you were given didn't work, it ruined your joint viewing experience and you want your money back - I'm available most days and evenings with some notice, and Tintin is the next screening I want to see
