I have to confess in my younger days I was very naive and - yes - woefully ignorant, and I kind of thought that when girls complained about being catcalled on the street "Well, isn't it sort of flattering? I mean, after all - they *are* being complimentary..."
Then I lived on St James Street, which is the gayest street in Kemptown, which is the gayest part of Brighton, which is the gayest town in Britain, and - not to blow my own trumpet (been yeeeeeears since I've been that flexible!) - I seem to have a look that appeals to a certain sort of gentleman (bears, mostly), and I used to get a fair amount of unwanted attention.
After that, I was like "I'm sorry...I totally get it. It's not nice, it's not flattering, it's just kind of intimidating..."
Can't say I've had too many similar experiences on here so far (must be getting old and past it!) but I shudder to think what it's like for the girls on here.

Im confused....how would "them" gay/bi men know what people want until we / they ask? Because tbf to gay / bi lads who are open and in our defense theres an awful lot of "str8" men who arent so on here!

In OP's defence, surely it's only right to take somebody on face value?
If somebody isn't explicitly gay or bi, it's a bit cheeky and inconsiderate to proposition them regardless on the off chance. That's pretty much sexual intimidation, especially on a website where are are plenty of other men openly bi or gay you could target instead.
So your bleating about homophobia is misplaced. You can't proposition a 'target' out of the blue with no grounds to suspect they're guy or bi and then play the victim card when you upset somebody.
