I think assisted dying would be an excellent humane thing to be able to offer people in this country. I wish our government would revisit this. I think dignitas seems to have all the safeguards in place to make sure it's the right decision for the individual involved and, that there is no external pressure being placed on them. Why can't we do the same here? |

I’m very much for this. Why shouldn’t adults who have no chance of recovering from an illness be able to say they want to die in dignity before the pain gets too much or they literally are no longer able to do anything other than be bed bound x |

I've changed my mind on this subject a few times
I used to think let someone die if that's their choice. It could be put in your will
Then I thought what if you change your mind but your not able to tell your family
Since I've worked in a care home and saw people with no family and no quality of life I thought oh god just let them die with dignity
But then you see people out of the blue smiling and saying words
I now change my mind on a daily basis x |

I have family I love and would fight to my last breath to stay with them.
We talk about bravery when someone fights to survive, sign petitions, lobby mps if medical intervention is removed citing the right to life...yet when it comes to Dignatas the script is switched: let people die if they want to, we shoot lame horses and put down dogs so why deny us the right to die...blah blah.
Would I want to live to 104?...no...would I kill myself?...Suicide is selfish not brave...giving up is easy...fighting to survive...now that's another story.
We all have differing views, this is simply mine.

Having seen a family member go from being an active and able person to in their words cant even scratch their own arse , where is the dignity in that ?
And second another after a major accident had non survivable injuries so switch off life support and see them appear to suffer for several hours before passing why not assist them to go peacefully .
I 100 % agree we should have the choice if there is no chance of recovery |
