semi final 1 tonight.... bbc4 as we speak
semi 2.... thursday
the final.... saturday....
rules... no politics... no taking it too seriously...

right..... for the degenerate gambler in me this is what i think...
winner tonight....cyprus.... but don't bet it as it is so short you won't win much back...
the value in betting tonight is to do it "each way"... and go for a top 4 finish...
so my each way value bets would be Norway, Sweden and possibly australia
countries who are fairly high in the betting i wouldn't vote on tonight would be israel... you will either love it or hate it... and ireland (because of the china controversy they have come right in but the proformance isn't going to be liked by a lot of eastern european countries)
dark horse countries who wont win by i like the song.... estonia and the netherlands
quirky proformances... moldova and finland on the wheel....
the scary ones... hungary!!!! and serbia..... |

oooh... just seen the running order for tonight.... and a lot of the big hitters are going near the end...
uk sing 9th... after the hosts portugal, which i don't think helps... i think they are looking at bottom 5...
moldova 19th, sweden 20th, israel 22nd (hungary inbetween will make for a hell of a contrast) netherlands 23rd, ireland 24th, cyprus 25th (2nd from last)......
the winner for me comes from those 6 as they are all different enough that it will make an impact...
in fact the only really dodgy songs from me in the 2nd half of the contest are bulgaria at 18, hungary's proper heavy metal which you will love or hate at 23... and italy going last at 26.
