Winter warmer foods
Jump to: Newest in thread
Now the dark nights are here nothing better than some winter warmer foods.
Tucking into a fishfinger sandwich, with a some ketchup - yummy
then snuggle up in my PJ's in front of the TV.
Bit of House, Vampire Diaries or Greys Anatomy

Smoked fish I believe. I seem to remember Billy Connolly going to a specific place on the East Coast of Scotland where stovies are a speciality. Cant tell you what fish they are but it could be herring. |

That's Arbroath smokies.
Stovies are potatoes, onions, left over roast beef, corned beef or mince |

As no one has mentioned two of my favourites yet, I love toad in the hole with big fat pork sausages part cooked in a big dish then covered in batter- they have to be cooked like this not seperately- and with lots of thick gravy, peas and creamy mash mmmm.
The other is my lasagne, cooked the prevoius day- for some reason the bolognese sauce is always better tasting if its had 24 hours to infuse, with a crisp simple salad of leaves and tomatoes and garlic bread mmmm! |

Just had a three day feed of a big pork joint slow cooked in cider and herbs...
First day it was a roast with crackling and all the usual trimmins. Second day it became a stew with dumplings and the usual. The last day it was another scrumptious plateful... just delicious.

With Billy Connolly`s accent, it`s hardly any wonder that this half deaf country _umpkin got it wrong! |
