I'd never assume someone was big headed and avoid them because of it, I'd just assume they wouldn't be interested in talking to me, so I don't really bother. It's a defeatist attitude, but past experience has turned me somewhat reluctant to message people I think who are out of my league (which is most people to be fair).

Don't get me wrong every now and then I do message people I might not have a chance with because I might get lucky. But in my 27 years of being alive I've only ever had one partner and it only lasted a year and half, so it's hard to shake off that attitude.

It was the hot pics thread the other day that made me think of the question. People with low confidence are often encouraged to believe in themselves, but if someone is hot and does have confidence in their looks they often get slated.

I have a pal who is a pretty successful model, genuinely gorgeous. But she's also the most hilarious, intelligent, modest girl. Girls can initially take a dislike to her assuming she'll be a bitch, but one chat with her and I don't think there's many who wouldn't love her. There's absolutely nothing wrong with confidence, but when it starts to cross over into arrogance, that's when a person becomes unattractive to me.

Margot Robbie is my dream girl. She's beautiful, smart, funny, down to earth. She carries herself well and she has no problem playing ''ugly'' so to speak. But you'd look at her differently if it turned out she thought she was hot shit. Thinking your better than others for whatever reason isn't an attractive quality in a person.

As a single woman I spoke to at a club once out it, on Fab men who would be 8s in the real world get treated like 4s, while women who would be 4s elsewhere get treated like 8s - and sometimes start to act like they're 12s.

It's a crude way to put it, but there's a kernel of truth. Some men on the scene are happy to fuck any woman who'll let them, whether they're attracted to her or not, and some women act like it's their due. I've seen some say outright that single men should be grateful for any attention they get.

That's exactly what I thought when I first started using the forums. It seemed to me that certain women were constantly bashing men. I put it down to low self esteem.

That's exactly what I thought when I first started using the forums. It seemed to me that certain women were constantly bashing men. I put it down to low self esteem.

I know this is supposed to be an empowering statement for women but the kid in the sweet shop thing just makes me think of a meat (buyers) market. Women don't like being treated like meat yet they do the same to men.

It just seems like a power struggle. I think it should be mutual fun and appreciation. It's not good to make one set of people feel good by tearing down another set.

When I was in my 20's I was pursued by gorgeous young men in their 20's. Then, after a 20 year marriage and 5 years off for good behaviour I went on a certain dating site and found that I was STILL being pursued by the same -gorgeous men in their 20's!

I howled with laughter at the ludicrous reality of it and 'Cried all the way to the bunk' so so speak lol!

Agreed. But I also think there’s a fair bit of collating some of the empowered behaviour as being man-hating too - not abusive behaviour, but sometimes the assertive behaviour can be dismissed as being abusive too, which is also a major problem.

I totally agree, I don't agree with tearing anyone down, least of all men - I love 'em! And I hate games and power struggles - when I met a bunch of young men it was mutual fun and appreciation all the way!

This is true as I have heard it said more then once that fab is the only place that women have all the power...sadly to some it goes to thier heads. Not all but some..
