So I work in retail.
The powers that be have decided to remove our 20 min coffee break.
Which means some of us won't get a break until 5.5 hours into the working day.
I'm sure there are plenty of you will say "well be grateful you have a job" "no-one is forcing you to work there" etc. but I fail to see how this will ultimately benefit the company. |

The problem is, that high street retail is knackered, so they are doing anything now to keep going. |

Without naming any companies I'd check up properly as I'm in retail management and my staff get 15mins after 4 hours, 20mins after 6 hours, then they get 2x15mins plus a 30min unpaid at 7.5hours and upwards. Thought that was the legal minimum tbh. |

This unfortunately is true.
'Traditional' retail has been in an increasingly bad place for a while and it ain't gonna get any better. The pressure is on. But being shitty to staff won't help. If anything it will damage the retail experience even more if staff feel put upon. |

That's precisely it.
But since that news I feel a 20 minute sh*t coming on everyday around 11.30

That's a goodwill break, but its not law.Retail is in the shit, staff numbers are being cut, minimal breaks being given, and goodwill barely exists from employers to their staff.Welcome to the high street |
