"Do you think some people are born miserable? I used to think it was circumstances that turned people miserable but i think that some just wallow in misery "
I see people everyday who thinks the world owes them something when really the world owes them bugger all. Then I see people who have gone through the most tragic of events and are always smiling and are a pleasure.. |

I think some people really can't help themselves. A good friend of mine is married to a miserable twat. In all the years I've known them, I can honestly say I've never heard him say anything other than negative, miserable bollocks! it makes me quite angry at times cos she is such a sweety.
I won't spend time with negative types, it's too exhausting frankly.

There used to be this woman i know and she would start nearly every sentence with "ive had a hard life" only a couple of years older and no worse a life than anyone but god she would go on to anyone that would listen |

I think life may have dealt them a blow and they are unable to deal with it in the short, medium and long term...
Often it will be a case of a change ( temp or perm ) to a part of their life that causes the pain or upset. Some are prepared to do that, others not.... and sadly for those, things may not change.
It takes a great deal of ownership to resolve, but it will only be when they 'own' their happiness will it change. Till then much of the same.
In swinging, my first few years were great, then it stopped being fun so I changed how I approached it... since then, it is fun again... but in a totally different way.
No one can make me happy except ME... others may help... but it is always down to me.

that's very true

i think at times any attention will do for some people - and if they cant get it, or the right type for them, by being positive then they will seek/elicit sympathy by sharing situations where they are the "victim" or "helpless" .
others just like to make others as miserable as they feel, or are jealous of other's more positive outlook or preceived better life than theirs. " Car crash" friends - and i try to avoid them ! |

Couldnt agree more really, there are two types of people victims and survivors and only yourself can choose which path to take |

Know what you mean, some people i know just like to keep telling me about what a hard life they have had, when i have had my problems over the years, i just dont see the point of boring people, i prefer to keep it to myself. Then i do know some people who are always smiling even though they have had such bad luck. |

Some definitely are others are so frustrated for god knows what reason. I think some secretly relish in being miserable though. |

yes it could be.
But also, i wonder if some people just arent as resilient as others?
Ive found that the people with real bad problems, who have had a really bad time of it, are the ones who keep smiling.
The people ive met, who moan the most really have very little to complain about, but have had such sheltered lives, they think they have it hard!! |

i have to disagree, this almost becomes telling depressed people to shake themselves out of it.Depression is a medical condition and very different from miserable feckers who are pessimistic.
