Last night we finished watching the recent BBC 'Agatha Christie Ordeal by Innocence' drama. We were aware of the controversy in december with the actors involved, as well as the artistic licence by the writer(s). We really enjoyed the BBC version, and then read online a summary of the changes between the original and the BBC one. We found, on the face of that, we preferred the BBC plotting, with the Christie version - what the summary gave anyway - sounding fairly tame. In light of the plotting being changed, we did think the BBC should have labelled it "Inspired by" or "Based on". We felt that the BBC version seemed more appropriate or relevant with issues of domestic slavery and child abuse and abuse by authority figures ; and the whodunnit angle of the murderer seemed quite cleverly plotted and presented too. Did anyone else see this three-parter ? Enjoyed it ? Hated it ? |
