So, I'm clearly thinking about this too much but I posted a thread earlier about whether fate was real.
Now I'm wondering if that belief dictates how we approach life. Whether consciously or not.
I guess I'm asking if you sail through life just letting things happen or do you actively take control?
Did you get to where you are in life through going out and getting what you want?
Are you god at making decisions in life or do you just "wait and see"? |

Well life is essentially chaos in motion. some see their lives within relative constraints, others view it as limitless possibilities. I think this in turn goes someway to describe where we 'end up'. Although there are many other variables that coincide.
I love to indulge in deep question and rumination. A bit weird after i just posted a dumb horse walks into a bar joke though! Lol |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I let the Universe/Fate decide when I can't. I think that's what most of us do.
Some will have deeper beliefs in Fate and that may well dictate what happens to them. Nothing will be their fault if Fate has dictated the outcome.

I do think fate has a certain amount of influence in our lives, it's like George Michaels song 'turned a different corner and we never would have met'.
I do also know that you are in control of some aspects of your life, such as if you don't like how some things in your life are, e.g. career, relationships, then there's only you that can change it.
I certainly go out to get what I want, and don't rely on fate, but then can appreciate when fate turns me a good deal. |

I had a form of the big C word a few years ago ... left me in a bit of a state fully paralysed down one side of my body after that I’ve gotten movement back 2 really good qualifications and a potential world wide job so yeah things happen for a reason but you need to go make the most of it and grab what you can ![](/icons/s/twisted.gif) |

It's a dance. The universe sends something your way. You reply. You seek something. The universe decides not to let you have it. You stop seeking it. The universe lets you have it. That's how I see it ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I made a job change decision in 2002 when in my 20's. If o hadn't made that choice, I wouldn't have met my horrid ex wife, had my amazing daughter, moved home and area where I live and meet my true best friends
I'm not a fate man but more a just do it as what's the worst could happen (as in nobody will chop your head off if you say or do something)
Have to be confident to do it, but anyone van or they just jump in
Sorry for rambling |

I think there is an amount of randomness that means that no matter how you try and control things fate does take a hand.
I have made poor decisions, some recognised with hindsight only, some through a lack of courage and some through rank stupidity. Fate has had a limited amount of impact on these.
I do believe in luck but there's a lot of truth in the saying "the harder you work the luckier you get".
In relationships, of any nature (other than family which is largely imposed) finding the right people, or person, to influence your life has a certain amount of chance to it. As life and you change the people you are attracted to changes , in all circumstances and finding new people is governed by the same elements of fate.
Know yourself, be honest, know what you want and accept that things may not always be in your control. |

For things like fab and winning the lottery it's a case of what will be will be, leaving the results of such endevours to fate. For things that have could result in a negative impact on my life such as; servicing my car, my performance at work, crossing the road... I take control of, they can't be left to fate.
Believing in fate is like going on a mystery tour and having that nice surprise when you end up somewhere great; but, like all journeys, you still need to maintain some degree of control. |
