Well after yesterday’s brain distraction thread.... had my consultation this morning and dr has said he happy to operate on my knee

Kinda excited to be free of the pain and reduction of movement and life but terrified of risks and post operative complications due to know work knowledge

Thanks again to the chats and support yesterday meant a lot to me

Happy fabbing

It might be worthwhile to get a decent set of rubber exercise bands. They come in three strengths and will help when you're told you're able to rehabilitate. Buying them afterwards and getting used to positions will be a little difficult.

It's unlikely unless there's a long wait you'll have impact but I suppose any exercise is good. The need for decent post op physio is essential though. You won't be able to do much in the first few days/week but as you you can, small amounts of resistance to start building tendons will all add up. Knowing where to place bands around doors or bed ends etc in adv will be better than starting from scratch is what I mean.

Thick bands = better spread on skin if you buy any.

If it's a knee replacement an excercise bike is handy to use.

You have to work at getting everything mobile.

Physio will be offered post op for this. Keep mobile and healthy before the op. Check whether the hospital is doing the walk to the operating theatre thing. It makes a difference and means you heal quicker. Get up and move around as soon as they let you.

Kinda know how you feel... never had surgery in my life but this year I am currently waiting for 2 surgeries.

Won’t be a knee lol.

But 1 will be a tonsillectomy and the other will be a cyst removal. Both I am excited to have done as it will solve so many problems for me... in the other hand I’m terrified In case of complications and I can’t afford to have much time off work on the sick
