We live on an island of mystery
I love hearing about local myths stories and legends
Let me tell you about the Mordiford dragon, Mordiford is the village I grew up in, on the river wye.
Many years ago a girl called maud found in the woods s baby dragon, she kept the creature and fed it on scraps and rats, as it grew the dragons appetite grew too, eventually it started taking sheep and cattle small dogs from the local area, the only person who could passiffy it was maud! The locals sought to destroy the dragon, but all who tried failed and were killed by the beast. Eventually the villagers found an escaped convict in a barrel floating in the river, they told the prisoner if he killed the dragon they would not turn him in, the prisoner keeps up on the dragon and killed it whilst it slept.
But the locals turned on the prisoner after and killed him too.
What’s your local story? |

I’m quite interested to note that the Chinese have a tradition of dragons, with scales, spikes, wings and a tail with an arrow head - it all reminds me of dinosaurs, pterodactyl or stegosaurus etc. |

Not exactly what you mean but a bronze age site was excavated near Eastbourne fairly recently. It consisted of a track way that was built over water leading into the south downs. Various artefacts were found in the water believed to have been offerings to their gods or spirits and the theory is that the trackway led into the downs for religious reasons. I'd *love* to know their reasons for doing these things. |

The devil is meant to hang out in my little town.
Apparently likes to joy ride his headless horse and carriage up and down the high street.
Not seen him myself despite being found staggering around the High street putting the hours in. |

I think Spring-heeled Jack turned up in many cities,
He attacked Women then escaped by jumping over high walls building etc
Basically a pervy long legged Jack the ripper but am not sure he killed anyone |
