"I might as well come out and say I love reading real books not this glass metal thing that someone got me last Christmas.
"
I love the feel and scent of a real book, the little notes in the front of some secondhand books, the crinkled pages and wonderful sleeve artwork. Real books for me |

I also prefer printed books but there are hundreds in my house, taking up valuable storage space.
My tablet contains dozens, which take up no more room, regardless of how many I download.
Also a lot cheaper than print, even with VAT. eg Bought a book this week - £3.20 for digital version, £10 for printed version. No brainer (and no space needed).
Admittedly, some books aren't Kindle friendly and just don't work. (I have a bondage book, which looks awful on my tablet - colours, text, pics, layout - horribly incompatible with digital format). |

I won't have a Kindle but I have downloaded a couple of free books on to my phone, for long train journeys where I don't want to carry a book.
I prefer books to staring at a screen. |

*stands up* Hi, my name is Aimée and I am a bookaholic! I love real books, even have a tattoo of one as part of my "things that make me me" sleeve! I think I have a problem as I cannot resist buying them, I prefer them to be second hand ones too |

Never have and never will read a book electronically. I love the feel of books, the smell of books and the look of books. One of my life long not-so-guilty pleasures is a mooch through a good, rickety second hand book shop. Happy Heels. |

We've got so many "real" books that we've had to build a room to put them in. We also own kindles with hundreds of books each on them. We enjoy both equally.
Reading is good, it doesn't matter what medium you use. |

I have a study with floor to ceiling bookcases jam packed with books, they are the books I love and have special memories for keeping. The kindle allows me to continue to read otherwise I would have had to stop reading or part with some of my books which I just don't think I could have done. |

It's very difficult to give books away isn't it.
I just reread a book that I first read at 18. I found it in a bed sit I lived in while I was at college. I also have a much treasured copy of Monty Woodpigs Caravan from when I was about 4 |

Paper books are nicer o read but if you need to carry more then one book E-book readers are good because you can have thousands which would weigh a ton if it was paper books.
Ebooks also have find and search features.
Ebooks are normally cheaper aswell.
Audiobooks are also good because you can sit listening to them on a packed train or bus which is not easy if you have a paper book and you can speed up the reading o the book if you just want to get the information quickly.
I think paper books are better for non-fiction and when you can give your full attention to the book.

I’m currently read a book set 100 years before the events of game of thrones by George R R Martin called A knight of the seven kingdoms.
It’s illustrated some with pretty cool pencil sketches, wondering what hardcore bookworms thoughts are on books with pictures/images? |

Definitely real books for me. I do have a kindle with about 100 books downloaded on it. But I also have about 100 real books that I’ve got to get through first. Plus about 20 books that I want to read again. So I reckon I’ll get on to my kindle in about 15 years.
And yes, I am a bit of a book addict. They’re stuffed in cupboards, drawers, under tables......

I've read that, on my kindle actually. It still has the cool sketches in the kindle version |

"Love my Kindle
300+ books on it and takes up next to no space. Finish one book and start the next. Easy to read and easy to carry around "
I agree
I love my Kindle. Apart from the reasons above it also makes reading a pain free experience for me to as many paper books caused me lots of pain in my hands and fingers due to arthritis. Also i can alter the size of the font.
Kindle wins for me. |

When I was a child, I devoured several books a week. Mostly scifi, or factual stuff - encyclopedias etc.
As a mortgage-paying adult, I had little time for books, so when I found that my tablet had a Kindle app, it got me back into reading regularly. I've read more in the last 3 years, than the preceeding 30.
Must admit, despite the storage issues, I still mooch round charity bookshops, for the occasional bargain. (Found a Wilbur Smith signed first-edition, for £2)
For those of you commenting about the smell of old books, I have a Samuel Johnson dictionary, from 1795... now THAT smells old! |

There and to the left a bit |
House is full of books that range from trashy throw away novels to fairly high brow non-fiction and everything else in between - love the feel and smell of a book and would always choose the real thing over a kindle version.
That said I know and appreciate the benefits of e-readers and have read books on there, just don't find the experience as satisfying |

Book addict here, from fiction to reference. Theres something a bit romantic about perusing a heaving bookshelf and selecting something of interest. I often wonder when looking through 2nd hand books how many people have read them before me and how much enjoyment they got out of it. I do understand the convenience of e-readers and I fear I may have to convert one day but I just cant shake off the my old-fashioned attitude of having a real book in my hands.
On a slightly different note, theres a lot of women on here who've posted in favour of books and I am now madly in love with them for it. |
