So we all, or mostly all live in good old blightie !!

But what nationality do you consider yourself to be?

I live about 8 miles from welsh border, I have a typical welsh surname.

However I am and have always considered myself 100% English

Who or what are you?

I think most of people mix nationality and ethnicity.

Nationality refers to country of citizenship.

So if you have British Citizenship you are all British but can have different ethnicity.

I used to always say that I’m Scottish, as I don’t feel remotely British; what it says on my passport doesn’t really mean anything to me.

.

But, then, I questioned why I felt that way; if I subject my Scottishness to the same scrutiny as I subjected my Britishness, it too falls short in similar ways. I have as little in common with so many of my countrymen as I do with just about anyone else in the world.

.

I have no idea where I’m going with this...

"if im abroad i say 'im from Liverpool' not England or Britain

Do people abroad know where is Liverpool?

haha just my pride of bein scouse over being English.

Fair enough.. I’m not a nationalist but have you ever been asked what is Liverpool?

never... there reply is normally 'Ah the Beatles' or 'Liverpool fc fan?'

One day mate,.. one day somebody will ask you where is Liverpool

maybe.

Definitely, you are walking on egg shells

im walking proud mate. as i say maybe, your entitled to your opinion

What would you say if asked abroad what is Liverpool? "

It’s a common thing, quite a lot scousers don’t associate themselves with England anyway. Yes the city is in England but there’s a greater pride in family heritage. I’ve traveled a fair bit and never met anyone who has not heard of the place

I meant in general. Let’s deal with one thing at a time, though. Do ‘Britain’ and ‘England’ mean the same thing?

I understand the geographical part and if we were to work on the above narrative then are we all Europeans?

Where were you schooled?

Great Britain - England, Scotland and Wales

United Kingdom - England, Scotland, Wales abd Northern Ireland.

British - Encompasses all of the above.

"Thanks for being rude about it.. answer me this then are you European?

Yes. Most people here are European. However, it’s not a nationality, and many don’t identify as European. So, you recognise that, but don’t seem to recognise that some don’t identify as British.

.

Either that or you do, and you’re just pulling your usual unfunny shite."

Thanks for being rude and your self again.. what I’m asking is what makes you feel English or British? There must be a logic bigger than the geographic location. Hope this helps
