Depends how long you spend in each other's company during the nothing to talk about stage and what happens during that time. A wise woman (Mrs Mia Wallace) once said that you know you're completely comfortable with someone when you can both shut the fuck up and comfortably share a silence.

I’d carry on fucking them then you’d have at least that in common to talk about. You don’t always have to spend any more time with someone than it takes to satiate each other’s carnal desires.
It is better when you connect with someone on every level and enjoy their company as much as you enjoy fucking them, of course but these people are not that easy to find. |

Odds are in reality he doesn't care, he is just there for the sex and anything else he is just doing to get it.
So use him and be glad. Like any other sex toy all it needs is a wash after use and forget about it till next needed
