i think i can get away with this because it is topical with the big news...
better reunification... Korea or abba????
i jest!!!!! simple question....
since they are back in the recording studios making new tunes (or Choons for the kidz) Favourite Abba song ever...
2 rules....
1) only allowed to choose 1 song
2) yes I know it is evil/I am a bastard...
and............... 1, 2, 3... away ya go! |

SOS.
Still the only successful comeback song for a Eurovision winner. But best example of the ABBA 'trick':
Agnetha doing beautiful pathos laden, lonely, plaintive verses over non standard cords. juxtaposed with that full joyous, circuitous rythym and full folksy sound with full harmonies in the chorus.
Perfect pop. What a band. |

i was relistening to abba gold this morning (well its eurovision season) and it dawned on me i didn't realise how fantastic all the intro's to their classic songs were...
just the 1st 10-15 seconds before they start singing are brilliant which goes to show how good the music is without talking the lyrics...
anyway for me.... i will always love "fernando"..... |

Oh yes! I love that too. I'm going to get my cds out later. I still have the original vinyl of a couple of their albums in the loft. |

Fabio you can't make me choose! I can't! I love them all! Ok.... My mind is made up. My firstt memory of Abba was Super Trooper. Love it and remember my mum bopping about to it in the kitchen. Then it literally just came on the radion there in work. So Super Trooper is my choice. |

"If I can spell it correctly it is .... Chiqutica ( or Chicken Tikka as I call it )"
fave abba fact regarding that song... anytime it is played on the radio, half the royalties to that song go to UNICEF..... and that has always been the case
must have made unicef a fortune and the gesture at the time to do it! |

Did you know that Gimme Gimme Gimme a Man after Midnight is a reference to the nuclear Domesday Clock, which Kim Jong Un has just turned back slightly from the witching hour?
(This may be less than totally accurate). |
