Lie awake worrying about not being asleep and having a presentation first thing tomorrow. Tried and tested sheep counting, masturbation and nytol cocktail not working. Fellow insomniacs any tips?

I count my blessings. Sounds a bit trite but usually works. Start with stuff like roof over my head, comfortable bed,etc etc.

Yeh the phone keeps me awake too long ... I keep telling myself just two more minutes and then it two hours later

Yep, the screens have a certain light that simulates daylight to the brain keeping you awake, some smartphones have a 'blue light filter' to compensate when it's turned on so you get to sleep easier.

Audiobook on app and sleep timer, or iplayer radio and choose a drama story and let it play out. Trust me, you’ll fall asleep annoyingly and miss what’s going on and because you’ve selected a story it will stop at the end so you don’t have the fall asleep and wake up a bit later because the radio is still going situation you would if you put live radio on.

Presentation will be fine, you’ve got this x

When I'm in hospital, and I can't sleep, I put my ipod on, and listen to some relaxing music.

Thanks guys and presentation went well. Thank you caffeine and makeup Heard on the radio this morning that eating 2 kiwi fruit an hour before bed helps with sleep for some scientific reason above my head including serotonin or something. Anyway might be worth a try fellow insomniacs
