Ok so I'm somewhat confused by this phenomena.....
For years I've been going to parties/socials and clubs without a plus 1. Infact I've often preferred it and it has made it a lot easier than to have to cater for someone else.
Doing the socials in the north east and a good 70% of men won't attend unless they've a plus 1..... is the whole point not to go and meet new people?
Is it just round here or does this practice exist elsewhere in the UK? |

Both of us in our single days done things alone... attended socials and clubs etc.
To my mind, anyone too shy or nervous to go it alone is not for us. Either grow a pair and get over the nerves or move along. |

"Tons of guys are 'too nervous' to go to clubs alone. We're all nervous but do they not get that going to clubs gets you meeting those people you could go to clubs with "
Yeah i don't think they do get it.... they arrive with someone and spend the night glued to them and then wonder why no one spoke |

I'd love to go to local clubs but being quite shy and generally lacking in self confidence I don't. So, in somewhat of a catch 22 situation, want to meet but but would only feel self-comfortable going to a club with someone but struggle to meet because don't go to clubs!
I may have gone off question a little, OP, sorry! |

"I guess alot of guys' wives just won't let them go to the socials. bloody women! "
But then they wouldn't be looking for a plus one to take would they.

I’ve been to a club alone and I’m really sociable, but I didn’t like it and felt hugely overwhelmed. I get why people need a plus 1, especially as a single guy. |

Especially if the people there are as unfriendly as they are on here. |

Exactly. If you want something in life then there's only yourself who can make it happen. Take a deep breath, and get on with it. No point sitting back and expecting things just to fall on your lap. |

Problem is you go with someone you will be stuck like glue if you're both a bit timid.
Saw hundreds of people over the years do this .
It's not as scary as you might think. If you're polite and engaging you'll have a great time |

As someone that enjoys going to clubs on my own I don’t have a problem. If anything I hate buddying yo or having a plus 1.
Reason is that I like to do my own thing, be it go for a wander and perv, chill in jacuzi, dance like bambi on ice. Sometimes k want to chat sometimes I want to be a miserable sod |

People bang on about the catch 22 of not being able to get a meet without a veri but can't get the veri without the meet. Folk on the forum say go to a club or social then. And then they can't pull that off.
It's difficult yes, but pull those big boy pants up and go, mingle, get a veri or two by being sociable, and you never know you might meet someone or two you can go to clubs and socials with regularly if that's what you want.
It's my opinion (and I could be wrong) that these excuse makers want everything to just fall into their laps, no effort necessary.
What's the point in going with someone as you're less likely to meet others, just have a meet with that person you've gone with.
Hand holding and babysitting are not in our skill set
But as it has been said before, go as a pair/group of same sex if it really is about company and not the chance to fuck your plus one at the end of the night. |
