School reunions, yes or no.

I recently went to a 20 year school reunion. I had a good time but remember why I had chosen not to see half of the people for 20 years. So question to the forum should you revisit bygone times, or leave the past in the past?

Nah. I don't see the point. Add them on Facebook or some messaging app like that.

Attended one the other evening and it was mainly people I got on with at school anyway. Was only a small gathering of about 15 people but a fantastic time was had. Guess it’ll always depend on who actually turns up and if they were people you actually liked at school

There and to the left a bit

I think my curiosity would get the better of me and I'd attend just to see how much people had changed and what had happened to them in the 36 (gulp) years since I left school and I daresay there might be some that I'd rekindle a friendship with, but for the most part those that meant something to me I'm still friends with so not overly bothered if it never happened.

I’d be happy to revisit old friends, I got on mostly with people in school and college. It’s fun catching up or reminiscing.

Did it once, wouldn’t bother again.

Mine was about 10 years after leaving and was a huge anniversary for the school so wasn’t just my school year attending. Although it was an enjoyable evening I wouldn’t repeat it

Nope the past is the past , mine was a pretty disfuntional school sink or swim kinda place lucky for me I was a good swimmer absolutely no desire to go back & socialise with people who I dislike , reckon it would be a messy reunion with several ambulances called lol

I definitely wouldn’t go to a reunion. Back when I had Facebook I added a lot of old “schoolmates” and quickly remembered why we lost touch in the first place.

Yeah I would and have. I liked the people I was at school with and although friends with some on fb it's lovely to actually catch up in person.

I’m the same. On a separate note, I just viewed your profile but didn’t message as you wouldn’t read it anyway according to your profile. I have fallen head over heels in lust with you hahaha. (It is ok for me to dream of people I wouldn’t have a hope in hell with isn’t it??)

Glasgowish

Our year all met up when we turned 50. This has resulted in several of us staying in touch and having short breaks away together. We plan to climb Ben Nevis in Sept which will be fun.

I probably would go but considering I have a lot of them from my form and year on Facebook and most just constantly talk about their kids I'd probably get bored and leave quite quickly. It would be interesting to see how some of the people who were popular or bullies at school reacted to me now though.

I'd still consider myself fairly young and sadly I know of 5 people from my school year who wouldn't be there as they've died

I got bullied at school for having a boyfriend four years older than me. Left school with no friends because I was a ‘slut’ and a ‘whore’ - and we had been together for three years at this point!

When we got married I had loaaaaads of people from school add me on Facebook and send me congratulations messages. Not a chance you weirdos

If I bumped into people on the street or in town they’d joke ‘our invite must have gotten lost in the mail!’ And I’d said ‘no, it’s because I didn’t invite you. You bullied me, why would I?’ Shut them up

Yeah unfortunately it doesn’t work for everyone and at the time kids can be cruel to each other. Most people grow up tho. The little gathering I went to the other night we mainly spent reminiscing about our different views. I wasn’t particularly bullied as such but like most kids, was subjected to a few hurtful comments from other kids etc. It was strange to hear the more poplukar ones saying about how they had it too. I think everyone is on the receiving end at some point to varying degrees. A couple of the “popular” kids I was at school with are no longer with us. 2 in particular were drug related. One took something and hung himself. The other one had come off years of heroin use and got depressed and killed himself. I recall at the time people saying how sad it was and how nice they were, but in my eyes they were bullies at school. It was mentioned during our gathering the other night and virtually everyone had same viewpoint as me which surprised me. Yes it’s sad what happened to them and upsetting for their families. Guess that’s just life tho

I love school reunions. We meet up at least once a year. I was lucky really, my year at school were lovely and I'm so glad most of us keep in touch after 30 years.

The people I actually want to hear from are on my Facebook and if we wanted we could arrange a reunion but we don’t, it’s nice reminiscing about school but we’ve all moved on with our lives, I’ve seen some of my old year and they don’t look like they have changed over the years.

I still see a few people from school, I married one of them and for a long time we were the love story, we went to school, left and fell in love. A few reunions were attempted over the years but nothing ever came from it and I’m quite happy for it to stay that way.

Brighton - even Hove!

I once went to one. Some people who were in my class had aged beyond recognition. 2 pupils from my class had died. One turned out to be gay. The initial excitement was over in an hour so it’s unlikely I’ll ever see them again. I don’t do social media so it was all ‘Facebook me’ I had nothing in common with them.

little house on the praire

A group of us set up one when we turned 50. It was brilliant. Id lost touch with most. What was weird though we seemed to revert back to what we where like at school. The loud one, the quiet one, the giggler the organizer. It was like we hadnt been apart. We have our own facebook page now. The sad thing was we let off balloons for people who where no longer with us. Sad at how many for such a young age
