New head of the Commonwealth

Jump to: Newest in thread

Commonwealth leaders have voted in Prince Charles as their new head following a request by her royal awesomeness the Queen.

This comes as no surprise, i know many see him as a bit of a bumbling buffoon but i actually like him. His heart's always in the right place even if his head sometimes isn't.

Good luck to him.

Just around the corner

It would have been interesting to see who they might have chosen instead. I suspect it needs a certain type of person and Charles is probably as good as they’ll get.

It came as a surprise to me to discover that the position isn't hereditary. It seems you learn a new thing every day.

The Commonwealth has some serious responsibilities to undertake. There is a lot of damage still to be repaired.

It's a job for somebody with an awareness of the current situation and the past, not for somebody who's spent their life being spoonfed and having their laces tied for them every morning.

The people who really could do some good for commonwealth countries given the opportunity will never get anywhere near the job.

"How will he cope with all that responsibility "

As it's principally a symbolic role i'm not sure where responsibilty comes in beyond shaking the hands of heads of state. I don't think anyone's expecting him to come up with policy. Leave that to the politicians; they're clearly doing a fine job.

Central

It's a good transitional step towards him becoming the King, so will help him and the others.

He's been groomed to be king from birth. Rather him than me,I wouldn't want his life for any amount of money.
