Sniffing the ferret, a true life story

Amongst those who know me 'sniffing the ferret' has become a euphemism meaning something you think is a good idea but turns out not to be. Allow me to explain.

Once upon a time some years ago i was taking a new friend to the South of England Show - one of those regional country fairs concerned with all things of a rural nature. This was a popular tactic of mine to gauge suitability. Mini skirted princesses are lovely but i actually prefer a girl who likes tractors and doesn't mind getting her hands dirty.

So one balmy day in June, whilst meandering down one of it's many avenues, to her great delight we happened upon a gentleman walking a ferret on a leash. Noticing her pleasure he picked it up so she could have a stroke. The ferret was clearly loving the attention. "He smells lovely", she said planting her face in his fur, "have a sniff".

I duly went in for a sniff to which the little bugger turned around and bit me squarely on the end of my nose. The look of horror on both their faces was priceless and i had to chuckle as i tried to stem yhe bleeding with a piece of tissue.

So there you go, life lesson learned. The End.

Haha, true. Like the ferret incident with Richard Whiteley.
