"Bookies don't starve..."
My dear old Dad gave me some very good guidance - he simply took me into a betting shop and pointed out that there were 4 windows for accepting bets and just the 1 for paying out - and said that I should draw my own conclusions. |

"anyone got any decent tips ?"
Good luck..... I'm not into odds etc but growing up my nan was really into horse racing. She used to put £1 bet on for me every year and she used to say read all the names and pick the one you love. Still do it this way today |

I’ve worked in the game for some years and have had some success in the race but this year my strategy has become rather like a roulette table!
I’ve backed Annibale Fly as the most pikely winner but I’ve ended up backing a number of genuine stayers for a place only at 10 - 20/1. The likes of Pleasant Company, Warriors Tale, Buywise, Houblon Des Obeaux, Thunder and Roses etc. They say that the ground ‘out in the country’ is desperate so I’d be guessing there’ll only be half a dozen finishing the race and some of them will be the out and out stayers who can’t win but can keep galloping. It wouldn’t surprise me if the winning distance was 20 lengths plus. |
