Is it just me, or are there more creeping out of the woodwork.

Are they really that dilusional that they think watching YouTube videos are actually research?

If I had handed in a load of YouTube links for my dissatation would I have been awarded my degree?

Or is it all fake????

"Why report him? He’s only trying to make discussion. I thought it was an interesting read "

A) should be in the politics forum

B) filling the forum with numerous lengthy threads about the same subject.

I’ve always said conspiracy was made to give bored rich housewives something to do.

I love reading conspiracy theories, especially when they take a weird turn and you end up in satanism or something, it's a different way of looking at things I guess.

You ask in the OP about providing sources, but a conspiracy theory can't have sources otherwise it'll just be news? I don't know, but they need the fantastic unprovable to make them work.

My favourite is nazi bases under the Antarctic, that's brilliant.

I also think it's a nice change to who's fat or thin, gay or straight blah blah blahhh

I like seeing how people respond to them - it gives you a better insight on how they are - rather than whether they want to kiss, fuck or avoid you

Before the Internet people who believed conspiracy theories were just known as weirdos who everyone avoided in the pub.

Given the Internet they can talk to each other and feel strength in numbers...

I once watched a certain YouTube about how Elvis had filled out his own death certificate and how there were pics of him in folks Graceland photos. Didn’t sleep for a week. My brain was buzzing. I love being made to think

What is a conspiracy theory in real terms?

We all watch the news and read the newspapers - are they purely factual and/or interpretations of the facts plus points of view, what's the difference?

We all need to do our own research, as it's not quite as black and white as it may seem!

Not all conspiracy theories are made equal there are the crazy out there ones such as Flat earth, the royal family are lizards etc

They all get tarred with the same brush, there are plenty that turned out to be true that were once just crazy conspiracy theories

MK Ultra

The US government assassinating MLK

US government taking parts of dead bodies without permission to test the effects of nuclear fallout

Cigarettes causing cancer cover up

Canadian government tried to developing a device to test government employees sexuality (didn't want gay employees)

So they're not all crazy some eventually turn out to be true

Learning to question everything and being able to see things from different points of view is very helpful.

Being model agnostic helps

In April 1967, the CIA wrote a dispatch which coined the term “conspiracy theories” … and recommended methods for discrediting such theories. The dispatch was marked “psych” – short for “psychological operations” or disinformation – and “CS” for the CIA’s “Clandestine Services” unit.

The dispatch was produced in responses to a Freedom of Information Act request by the New York Times in 1976.

Questioning everything is impossible. We literally don't have the time.
