Right guys...
I'm on a mission to find myself more friends and social opportunities to meet people the traditional way.
I'm terrible at the high heels tight dress car thing, and don't get out enough.
How can I overcome my lack of social opportunities?

Talking to strangers on the street is usually where people start. |

Try some social activities that you've never tried before, reading groups, exercise classes, college courses, loads of ways to get yourself out there. This is such a big step forward, you're very brave |

Start going to the same places e.g. coffee shop at regular times, often other people go at the same time each day weekend. Say "good morning/afternoon to them".
Evening classes are good for social opportunities but I've been attending them all my adult life and people can be quite closed off.
Invite everyone in your street for a drinks and snacks evening, we did that when we moved in here.
Get a puppy and go to puppy classes.
Volunteer in a charity shop on a Saturday afternoon.
Advertise in the paper.
Some areas have social groups that organise events but these (despite their name) tend to be very cliquey.
Organise a fab social

book yourself a meal evening and get dressed and go for the meal.
or find another to go for a meal with you.
as you can get already and enjoy the evening without having to cook it.
another point you could end up meeting someone there that might be interested in a meal at a restaurant. |

Have you got a Spice group near you? I was in it for a while, you pay a small monthly fee to be a member then just book and pay onto whatever activities you fancy. Could be anything from bowling, rambles, theatre, dancing, rifle shooting, all sorts! It's primarily singles and I found everyone really friendly as they're all in the same situation. |

If you work, do they organise social outings at work ? Join a book club or set one up? Aquacise class or similar.
Dog walking ? Even volunteer at your local dogs home - I think dog walkers are very sociable.
Quiz nights at a local pub, Sunday nights there are lots around here. You can join some people already there.
Singles dinner nights out, I’ve seen these advertised where a group of singles all meet for dinner somewhere locally. I knew someone that went and really enjoyed it. It’s a social thing nothing to do with dating. |

I don't see the problem, The Hermit lifestyle is my end goal. I just need to crack the early retirement thing then it's plain sailing to Hermit bliss. |

I recently moved to Oxfordshire and one of the best things I found was an app/website called meetup. People in the area post meetups where you can meet people with the same interests. So, I am a member of my local book group, film group, social group where you meetup for drinks on a Friday night. You can go to as many or as few as you want. Some charge a cover fee (the organisers are charged for having groups). |
