So sad to hear the news when I woke up this morning
It was watching Eric on tv as a child that inspired me to tag along with my mum as a teenager when her team played and to join the team when I was old enough.
He was a lovely man. I remember him at an exhibition in a small venue when someone had waited outside for hours just to meet him as he arrived because they’d not been able to get a ticket. He invited them in and insisted on buying them a beer and playing a leg against them first |

Spent many a hour in the school holidays playing darts in the 80s.
Me and my mates all tried to replicate that unusual way he held his darts. Put a lot of holes in walls an inexcusable distance away from the dartboard as a result
Sad news. |
