he was one of the great darts legends of the past who has the hindsight to look to what it could be... and made it what it is now with the pdc!

I have played against him. When he walked into the pub to play against us, our captain said "What the fucking hell are you doing here, we were expecting Bobby George"

He bought everyone a couple of beers and was a good laugh

RIP Eric

He used to play in my league, only spoke with him a few weeks back. The crowd have given him an amazing standing ovation tonight. Peter Wright was heartbroken after his match

So sad to hear the news when I woke up this morning

It was watching Eric on tv as a child that inspired me to tag along with my mum as a teenager when her team played and to join the team when I was old enough.

He was a lovely man. I remember him at an exhibition in a small venue when someone had waited outside for hours just to meet him as he arrived because they’d not been able to get a ticket. He invited them in and insisted on buying them a beer and playing a leg against them first

West Wales and Cardiff

Spent many a hour in the school holidays playing darts in the 80s.

Me and my mates all tried to replicate that unusual way he held his darts. Put a lot of holes in walls an inexcusable distance away from the dartboard as a result

Sad news.
