Who here still has some VHS Videos at home?

I know I do. I have a good collection of them as they mostly of what I used to watch in my childhood like Telebugs or The Flintstones meet The Jetsons for example. The last one I watched recently was a National Geographic video called The Secrets of The Titanic which I always enjoyed watching as a kid.

Cool. Mine does the same. I bought mine at a car boot sale. Had to order the remote online though as the one that came with the dvd/video combo didn't work

Is it correct that you can only play on them now, rather than record TV and play?

I'm sure that if you have some blank VHS tapes, you can still record stuff on tv

The tuner in VHS and Betamax recorders were analogue, now we have had digital switchover there is no signal for those recorders to receive.

On some you might be able to select to record from a input (SCART or AV/composite), so if you have a tuner with such an output, then you should be able to record to tape that way.

Be careful where you store tapes as the combustion product can be very toxic if there is a fire.

Some of the old 1980's VHS pre-recorded tapes are worth quite a few quid now. Especially the ones which didn't sell in great numbers. So if any of you have some original copies of movies then it might be worth checking up on them.
