Do you look at label sizes when you buy clothes? I don't really know what size I am as I just buy whatever fits. Do you get depressed if your usual size doesn't fit, or do you just think it's a different 'cut' of fabric?

After being quite ill last year I've lost loads of wait so I've jeans from a 30 to 36. What pisses me off is I constantly pick up the 1s that don't fit. Doesn't really answer your question but I wanted to get that out

Only you know what size it says on the label, others will find out only if you tell them.

I'm more concerned about getting something that fits properly and suits me than worrying about what number is on the label.

There is nothing that looks worse than someone who has tried to squeeze themselves into something too small and it is usually because they think along the lines of "I'm always a size xx and won't wear anything bigger".

I can shop anywhere. I'm perfect. I never put weight on. There's some sad bastard that goes to all the shops before me and stitches along the seams so I can't get them on tho ........

I don't usually get upset if I don't fit into my normal size. Granted, I don't tend to fluctuate much in size, so it isn't usually an issue. I know what range of sizes generally fits for different clothing items, and go with that.

I will say, though, that it genuinely hurt when I tried to put on my wedding dress and it didn't fit. I thought I'd try it on before coming to the UK, and tried to zip it up...couldn't even get two inches zippered and it had only been about a year since the wedding. That hurt.

I pick up a 20 first. Some shops a 20 is too big, some it fits ok. I'm a strange shape so have to get a 20 to fit my stomach, fat arse and boobs. An 18 will sometimes be a bit snug on the boobs but baggy around my shoulders.

I have trousers in size 18 and 20. One of the size 20's hangs off me.

Do you wait before throwing big clothes away, just in case you put weight back on?

when i originally started to lose weight yes i hung on to them for ages. But as i have 100s of clothes in the size i got down to these are being sent to a charity shop as soon as i slim out of them. This weight gain is tempery due to illness

My new works uniform is a 16 and is a little too big, I'd rather it too big than tight and popping out.

I find it alters in shoes to I'm a 71/2 but often have to buy an 8 as got broad feet and a 7 often tight when I try them but it makes me look clownish depending on style of shoe

I find it hard as I seem to be a different size in each shop. Also i have small shoulders and not much boobage up but larger hips so I find if a top fits me well on my stomach it's usually really baggy up and falls down up top. I have to stay clear of vest tops. I find NEXT are nice and generous with their sizes

It’s annoying how size varies from shop to shop. I’m an 18 but in some shops it’s got to be a 20 or even a 22 though I had a dress sent in the wrong size a 16 and it fit lovely. So I try the clothes on now as you can never tell x

Shoes are a pain too. Not many shops do half sizes and a 7 ends up flopping off my heel. 6 would be too tight and give me blisters.

Central

I sell replacement size labels for most of the fashion brand's clothes. For a small fee, our assistants will come out and swap the XS labels for your XL ones.

Men still suffer the indignity of wearing jeans with their waist sizes on the outside

I think it's unfair that kids clothing goes up a pound or two when the age goes up, I know there's more material in an age 8-9 then there would be on an age 6-7 but can you imagine if they did the same with women's dress sizes. A size 8 top costing a tenner but then size 18 would have to pay 12 quid, there'd be uproar!

Did you know... the shoe sizes refer to "barley corns". Sizes start at 12 (which is 12 inches) and counts backwards in barley corns

I'm anywhere between a 10 and a 14 depending on where I shop.....and how many creme eggs I've had that week

Used to bother me but there's so much difference in sizing with different shops. If it looks good on,cut the label out and forget about the size.

I had the exact same problem with my wife's wedding dress.

Then again I am 14 inches taller than her

I always try stuff on. I hold it up to see which one I think will fit then also take the next size up into the changing room. I go for 18 or 20, sometimes 22.

It does!

Us fat woman pay more for all plus size ranges.

I can go into cheap stores and buy clothes because they don't do them in my size same for underwear. If I can get a bra for my 40H for less than £25 I would be laughing

Sizes don't work for me.

Clothes makers assume because I have a 48 inch chest I have a 48 inch waist to go with it. They also assume if you have a 34-36 inch waist you have pipe cleaners for thighs.

It takes me forever to find stuff that fits well.
