a superior court judge in California has ruled that coffee house chains have to out a cancer warning on their cups, a chemical released in the roasting process it THOUGHT to be linked with cancer, thought no real studies have been conducted, and those that have were inconclusive

I thought it was the temperature of drinks that was the contributor to cancer. World Health Organisation dropped coffee from it's list in 2016:

I was reading a book in which it claimed that by 2050 it might be possible that life expectancy will be doubled. Living twice as long without coffee would fill me with dread

On the plus side, there was a report the other day which said three or more cups of coffee per day significantly reduced the risk of heart disease. It keeps the old arteries nice and clean apparently.

Not to worry, before that happens global warming will have melted the ice caps, and we will fall off the edge into the blackness of space saying 'bugger me, it was flat after all'

So coffee machine is on, fancy a brew?

I *always* fancy a brew. I buy my coffee mail order and it was late being delivered this weekend. I thought I was going to have to drink instant

Mind if i ask which cancers and how what symptoms caused you to head to the doctors?

Oral sex on women was touted as being very safe- but now mainly younger guys 30-40 especially are in the midst of an HPV fuelled throat cancer epidemic.

Remember everything in moderation- including moderation!

I saw/read an article that said most cancers are down to bad luck and the cells deciding to mutate without any stimuli. Just a fluke, they said.

they really need to stop blaming everything else for cancer...coffee,bacon etc etc..

car pollution FFS - you barely have a choice to take it in moderation

even the rich and famous have been dying of cancer...they have better lifestyles(unless heavy drug/alcohol use), people are generally living longer...thus exposed to more of the world...and as I said before, exposed to things that are just part of modern industrial life IMO

Were in the midst of a cancer epidemic,I say epidemic not pandemic, trying to find the few things we know causes cancer is futile, were completely and utterly surrounded by them.

It's called industrial civilization.

Hence why it's not a pandemic

.

That's not quite true, there's a particular chemical produced in the roasting process that is now on Californias official carcinogenic list hence why the judge had to rule about the warning

True, there are certainly cancer clusters around say smoking, asbestos and radiation but the rest??

Just get on with life

Lymphoma both times, first was just chemo every other week, second was a tad tougher to fix. Required 6 months in isolation, the massive doses of drugs that got me through that has left me a bit damaged, but still alive and able to party.

First caused pneumonia like symptoms. Got spotted during that treatment. Second I was obviously more aware and went in with lumps in my throat.

It's not cancer clusters, it's direct scientific evidence.

Polonium 210 is produced in tobacco, it's what causes the lung cancer.

This particular chemical in the coffee has some evidence showing carcinogenic ability hence why they put it on the state register of carcinogens

Yeah and don't get me started on the people who act all superior about women who smoke while they're pregnant then push their own child at exhaust level along a main road to get some fresh air.

It's a modern day predicament for sure.

Air quality is killing tens of thousands every year.

I had a serious throat infection and my symptoms were identical to lymphoma- the An E doctors even went as far as a chest x ray just to check

Thankfully it sounds like a false alarm, I make light of it, but in my treatment time saw several not make it. Had 3 heart attacks and ended up with a dodgy heart that needs daily pills to slow it down and a damaged liver both competing to see which will kill me first. But I am not going to let them... what is worse is I can't afford the medical insurance needed to ride in the USA
