It happens. A lot. It has happened to us, albeit the scenario was different. You are meeting people off the internet for sex. What do you expect? Just get more discerning. Be skeptical. Don't travel far for meets. Maybe call or Skype beforehand. There's plenty you can do to safeguard yourself, but not expecting some level of BS on the internet is, frankly, naive. |

1st rule.... always meet somewhere neutral
2nd rule.... always have a chat on phone or better still cam
3rd rule.... if it sounds to good to be true it usually is.

i think it's quite different though , for men, than for women...women seem far less likely to get fakes, men arent going to be pretend men, and on the few occasions ive had fake 'couples', or even a 'bi woman', they have sent such ridiculously graphic crude messages that its totally obvious its not a woman. Men are going to get targeted much more, and it seems that a very crude message is no clue at all..they just think all their birthdays have come at once when some 'woman' is overtly graphic, pics, vids very quick etc..thats a generalisation of course, but it's the impression i've had. |

because it normally comes down to some sort of common sense thing that is missed in the aim of some sort of leg over...
the more things on someone's checklist... the less things likely to go wrong...
if they don't tick of the checklist... don't meet.... |

yes i would do... yes i have done...
because it normally comes down to some sort of common sense thing that is missed in the aim of some sort of leg over...
for example., in this case... after 3 weeks of "chatting" but not talking on a phone, that would raise some sort of "red flag" for me....
the more things on someone's checklist... the less things likely to go wrong...
if they don't tick of the checklist... don't meet...."

We learn easily and well from our failures and yet many people seem not to want them.
Learn what you can from it. I've not had this experience but have my own methods and rules that I follow. I've not sensed any increase in people doing this in 10 years. I'd be angry for the deceit and report the profile bit many common frauds are throughout the internet.
Do club meets only, so there's a backup and speak live on fab or other cams. |

Hmm I think women are just as susceptible. Not necessarily by women pretending to be men but certainly by people pretending to be something they aren't. |

Making yourself seem way different than you actually are on online dating websites. Examples would be using photos from a long time ago, exaggerating your skills, talents, hobbies, etc.
I think at least half of fab if not half of the Internet is guilty of this!
