I am currently off work following an operation on my arm.
I have been off work a number of weeks and will be for a few months yet.
Done with the TV.
So want to do some reading.
I like sci-fi horror, fantasy,action type stuff.
Brian Lumley, Jonathan Mayberry, Clive Barker,HP Lovecraft, David Moody.
Are a few of my favourite authors.
So has anyone got any ideas on books please.
Thanks

"David Eddings - The Belgariad series
What's it about ?
Google it!
Fair enough seems pretty huge. Dunno how I have missed this."
Belgariad was ok, bit of a LOTR rip off. The next series The Mallorean was a bit more like hard work. I think he exhausted all of his ideas in the first series.. |

"The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, that'll keep you going for a while, I'm on book 10, 4 to go.
Ginger
I started the first and couldn't get into it, is it worth persevering? "
I really enjoyed it and it's not my go to genre, definitely preferred it over LOTR, but I can read pretty much anything. My 14 yr old has just finished it and enjoyed it, but it's a big commitment. I've only read the ones written by Robert Jordan, I don't know how well they continued after his death under a new author.

"The Railwayman by Eric Lomax. Only book that's ever made me cry.
What's the genre?"
Young man, captured and tortured during WW2 by the Japanese. Meets torturer late in life and majes his peace. Was made into a film starring Colin Firth. |

Can't message you so here's a huge post
I'm a huge Science Fantasy fan
My favourite authors:
David Eddings- Belgariad, Mallorean, Ruby Knight,Tamuli
Raymond E Feist - complete Krondor collection, its about 10 different trilogys based on same characters set in the same world.
David Gemmel - mainly Drenai Series but done others as well
Mercedes Lackey - Huge Bibliography, my favourites are Valdemar Series, Obsidian Series, Elemental Masters series but to be honest not read anything of hers I haven't liked. Way too many to give a synopsis for all of them but you can either google them or ask me about them. |
