Northumberland

God's second attempt after he realized the Garden of Eden hadn't worked out as he planned. Simply beautiful, even in winter...

Downsides? The main roads are shit and some places are a long way from anywhere else. Oh, and Blyth - if Northumberland was a person Blyth is where they'd insert the enema tube....

I think mine's a bit shit really, a few nice bits (thankfully I live in one of them) but not much to really rave about. No city or hub to speak of, and I've never found one website where you can pick South Glos as an option on the address pages.

We went to the Gower on holiday a couple of years back, absolutely stunning. We looked at the house prices when we got back and remember thinking they must be completely out of sync with the jobs in the area as they were so expensive.

The edge of the earth...

Vast empty beaches rolling Atlantic surf miles of coastline cliffs hills fields farms and the most achingly beautiful sunsets. Sometimes even the northern lights.

Ruins castles rolling black storm clouds land of mystery dark dreams myths legends and glens with babbling rivers strange shaped rocks giants and stories that chill the mind...

And yet it's miles from anywhere and living in a time that has long since gone...

Yet I still miss home sometimes..

I'm fairly new to Yorkshire and frequently catch my breath at how beautiful it is as I drive somewhere. Disagree with you about the cities though, Leeds has brilliant culture (Opera North, Northern Ballet, Grand Theatre, etc etc) and amazing shopping, bars and restaurants, Wakefield has thd Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Hepworth (museum of the year) and even Bradford has the Alhambra.

Beautiful gem in the middle of the irish sea, gorgeous scenery, steeped in history and when the sun is shining there is nowhere else I'd rather be.very low crime rate and unemployment (about 1%) but....

Worcestershire. Gave its name to a sauce. Lots of motorway access. Umm fields/farms and rugby. Not as close to the coast as I would like but we have canals and rivers.

suffolk

"Suffolk, a local county for local people. Some quaint seaside towns, lots of farmland, and a healthy distrust pf anything or anyone from further south than Ipswich, west of Bury and north of Lowestoft.

And on behalf of those from Norfolk, the feeling is mutual!"

Well now... we thinks it’s a friendly little county...or is that cu@*#

"Llandudno, beautiful place, 2 beaches and Snowdonia mountains close by, close to Liverpool, Manchester.

Lovely friendly people. Not badly priced but jobs are an issue with alot of seasonal work."

It's a wonderful place and the gate way to Snowdonia

Hertfordshire. Very handy for London and a fraction of the price. Well linked with excellent rail links? motorways and 2 airports in close proximity.

Culturally it's a bit bleak. I mean places like stevenage, Hatfield, Hemel and Borehamwood, no one chooses to visit them do they? Beautiful countryside though
