Hi to my fellow hot tubers!
What would you suggest using bromine or chlorine? I’ve been using chlorine for a while but now thinking to go over to bromine as my wife has delicate skin!
Any advice would be great.
Ps anyone local to us by all means get in touch as we do enjoy the company of others

OK I use chlorine and make sure pH is spot in also use a water clarifier xx |

i use a mixture of chlorine, and an ozonator.. lets you use far less chlorine.. just keep your eye on the levels..
A good test kit comes in handy.. Ive been using the 8 tabs on a strip thingy that seesm to work well |

beter to invest around 150£ in "UV feeder for hot tubs UV disinfection winer spa hot tub and evolution spa" clean water without chemicals just watch some videos on youtube , easy to install and 10 times better than bromine or chlorine. no smell at all |

I tried bromine tabs and didn't get on with them, they seemed to mess with the hardness levels and threw the ph all over the place.
Chlorine powder is better than the slow leech tabs, it quickly dissolves and after 24 hours most of it has dissipated into the air so shouldn't affect delicate skin.
Even with UV you still need chlorine to kill all the bugs that will build up in the rest of the pipework, especially in the airator hoses which may have water static in for days.
Stick with the chlorine, just a small amount every couple of days will keep everything tickety boo.

After a bad experience (pseudomonas infection) with a hired inflatable tub we won’t take any chances with water quality. When we were looking to buy our tub we did a lot of research on the Internet but the best source of information about water treatment came from the company we bought our tub from. We visited their show room a few times, not only to look at hot tubs but to speak to different staff members and to learn about water care. After all of our research we decided that chlorine granules was the best way to go. |

I use chlorine tablets in a floater and boost with granules if the tub has heavy use if you keep the pH balance correct you will not have skin problems in the last 18 months I’ve not had to change the water in the tub and I sent a water sample off to a lab two weeks ago and there is less bacteria in my hot tub then you get in tap water happy days |

It says at the top that we shouldn't bad mouth or name and shame, and that's a pity because there are some clubs in the GMA, the greater manchester area who have some of the filthiest Jacuzzis l have ever seen..I am fed up with scraping hair out of the filters, I fed up with feeling the slime of oil around the water edges of the tubs. Absolutely disgusting. Apologies for using this thread to rant |

I use bromine tablets and finding them brilliant.
I shock a fresh fill with bromine granules and then the floater take some care of it. I shock after use with some non-chlorine shock to reactivate the bromides... after heavy use I use chlorine shock (also do this fortnightly). If the levels dip a little then I just put half a scoop of bromine granules in and job done!!
I change my water every three months just to be safe and when I do the water is still pretty much bang on!!
The only thing I get through a tonne of is alkalinity increaser as that drops regularly.
And I’m always open for guests |
