Do you agree with it or do you believe it's wrong?

If you agree with it, where should we draw the line? Can this further the rich and the poor gap even more?

I agree on that.

But what about atheltic abilities, intelligence etc?

Should altered dna people have different olympics?

Who will carry out manual labour, alienating jobs?

Edit the Crohn’s disease out please

Apparently they’ve identified which gene causes it so they’ll point in the right direction

It’s slightly indicative of hitters idea to create a master race, is it not..

I mean I get it, but natural biology is natural selection.

What happens to the world when everyone has perfect genes and everyone lives forever?

I draw the like at the 'designer baby' ideas. I think most people do. Though the practical limitations of gene editing technology mean we are a long way off from this.

Atm most of the focus is on using the technology in the form of gene therapy, to lower the rates of expression of genetic illnesses which have their epidemiology in single or small clusters of genes.

Brave New World is a good book to read to show how far this idea could be taken. Though I'd love the soma they use in the novel!!

I think treating/preventing diseases is more than fine but it should be a free option or at least covered by nhs .

As for master race no thank you! Imperfections is what makes us humans

"For medical conditions yes, for the designer baby no!"

What about personality traits?

Addiction

Violence

Self harm?

You can't test for personality traits on an unborn child, can you?

Self harm is strongly correlated to clinical depression, and there seems to be a genetic link at least to sensitivity of depressive disorders, so there might be chance that the risk could be reduced through genetic treatment

But you can test for genes that may be more prone for developing these traits.
