Without revealing what you do, how many hours have you put in during a week for your employer?
I had a 95 hour week and was really feeling it today.
The longest stint ive ever put in was a continuous 33 hour day |

At the moment, not very hard. Feel a bit like I’m stealing a wage in fact if I’m honest. At other times though I’ve worked very hard, with 17/18 hour days.
Swings and roundabouts I guess! |

I do the 6 hours a day I'm paid for. I can't physically do anymore than that without having to organise childcare. I don't get paid enough to put in extra. I work damn hard while I'm there though. Life's too short to spend it working all the time. I've done long long days and multiple jobs. It's not sustainable or good for you. |

Even though I wander around here from time to time (cough) I am actually still working. I’m always in early and sometimes don’t lock up until late. Hard to put an exact figure on the number of hours though |

I don’t necessarily think by doing a certain number of hours, it makes you seemingly be working harder. In fact, I kinda think that if you’re working ridiculously long hours, there’s obviously an issue with you not being able to say no to your boss. |

A few of you need to stop these hours you’re doing the working time directive is there for a reason. Anyone doing over 13 hour shifts is placing themselves and others st risk |

Unfortunately military life and working time regulations don’t always go hand-in-hand! |

I work on behalf of the public. I take work home with me both mental and tangible. I love my job and I deeply care about making a difference but it’s quite hard at the moment and I’m thinking of slowing down. I’m hoping to work less hours and no bringing it back with me. |

Not necessarily. Sometimes the goal posts move and the business change plans. The only way to achieve the impossible is to put in the hours and get the job done.
I do say No from time to time but every so often you have to put in a shift, or in this case, an extra shift |

Company is going through an upscale, so I work as many hours as possible atm. Average week is probably 60 odd hours on site. Actual down time is minimal though |

I do what is required of me. Sometimes I work more than I'm paid for and sometimes I work less but still get paid.
Some days are harder physically than others and I get satisfaction from completing it within the time. |

I dont think you can always measure how hard you work by the number of hours you work. I only work 11 hours a week but think I work bloody hard for those 11 hours. My employer gets the very best of me for every minute im there. |

I work anytime between 6 and 10 hours a day, I do 36 hours a week and my boss is very open to me sorting my own hours, as long as I do my hours and plus also my job allows me to start at 8am and do evenings if I want.
I work bloody hard when I’m there, I can’t say I’m ever knackered because that’s not the type of work I do (I do activities in a care home) so every time I am with residents I am working or planning stuff. I absolutely love my job!

40 hour week in the office, I work hard and do what's needed.
When working abroad it's not unusual to put in 14-16 hour days for weeks at a time. Under pressure to get jobs finished when daily penalties for late completion can be £1,000,000 a day. |

Since it’s a thread about work
I feel I’m in the minority - I know I’m in the minority with the people I work with.
Does anyone genuinely enjoy working shifts? 12 hours days and night 6-6 weekends and bank holiday too?
I can’t be the only one who likes it |

7 1/2 hours a day. Average week I;d guess I do around 5 hours unpaid overtime
But the nature of my work means it has to be turned around quickly so if we are busy or short staffed it can be unrelenting to say the least. |

I actually work less than the hours I'm contracted, but I'm effective and efficient when I'm there and get everything I need done...plus school runs mean I'm never able to start early or stay late.
I wouldn't work anywhere that expected overtime, it shouldn't be necessary.

I average about 20 hours over five days a week, but the amount of hours doesn't really reflect how busy my job can be, and sometimes I work eight, ten days in a row.
I on occasion do a split shift where I do 7am-11am 5.30pm-11.30pm like I'll do tomorrow. |

I do 12 hour shifts. I have had nights (although rare) that I've only worked for 2 hours the whole shift and other nights I've worked continually for 11.5 of those (also rare)
If the buzzers don't go in my work we literally get paid for doing hee haw x |

I don't count my hours, I'm not hourly so I don't care.
There are strict rules about how many hours a day and week I'm allowed to work but being a cowboy with complete disregard for all that pish, I do what I want.
The more I do the more I get paid.
I'll start work around tomorrow lunchtime and I'll be finished about 24 hours later. I'll make a decent dent in my pro plus stash. |

39hrs a week plus overtime. Working is a waste of life though. I know some will say they love it or it's an escape for them but we've just been conditioned to "like" working. In the future people won't be working at all or at least not as much as we are with automation taking the majority of jobs. I'm jealous. |

Longest I ever worked was 6 weeks on duty 24/7 though able to sleep as long as nothing happened. Boss did give me an extra week off though.
Second longest started at 2 pm Christmas Eve finished at 11pm went home and was called out almost straight away at 1 am Christmas morning and eventually got home at 3pm Boxing day.
Must admit I was much younger then - LOL |

"Not these days, but I've smashed in some very long days when the hay needs making/gathering in.
Was the sun shining? "
In the parts when it was daytime, yes. It's usually a feature of gathering the hay, ie - it needs to be in sheds before it starts raining. |

"9-5 day for me with a hour commute each way. Though driving through Herefordshire doesn’t seem like commuting.
Herefordshire is beautiful. Lucky you "
I had a lovely drive from Yarpole (near Leominster) to Cheltenham on Wednesday....on the A and B roads past Ledbury through Dymock and Newent etc...lovely drive between appointments.
I normally don’t think about the hours I work. Our weeks are from a Thursday to Wednesday. So far this week I’ve probably done 12/14 hours including commutes.... pulled in over £10k of business for the company so not a bad return....certainly not worked hard.....the trick is to work smart, surely? |

When I do work I limit it to two days a week. However the reason my employers accept this is because I achieve what others achieve in five days. It's not because I'm anything special, its that I know how to work smart and I actually work. |

I remember when I was a receptionist at a hotel, I would pray the night shift wouldn’t call sick as that normally meant you would do the evening shift 3-11 and then the night shift 11-7. I used to like doing a late then an early if I could stay, whole bed all to myself for 6 hours. Bliss!

I regularly do 13 hour days, I have no problem with people only doing the hours they're paid for, but I'm a bit of ocd in that I don't like leaving a job half done. And it has to be done bang on, otherwise I just get annoyed with myself.

It's cyclical throughout the month, from not very hard, to bloody hard with extended hours. Though still always harder than some colleagues make as their best efforts even in their busiest times. |
