For me bondage/shibari is an erotic act on its own, so much sensual stimulation from the being tied, it doesnt necessarily need to be part of a sexual scenario, although that is amazing too. The connection of 2 people-not only on a physical level, being engrosed in what they are doing and the trust it involves can be more erotic than sex itself.
