Would the world be a better place

Some people find great comfort in faith.
Not this person however.
Football is too much of a money monster to get rid of now. It also gets a lot of people out the house.
Shame dickheads fight over it. |

Not sure what banning football would achieve? I'm ambivalent to it but it's a sport and if people play as well as watch that can't be bad?
Religion is something different....I respect but choose to ignore..... |

Love football, don't like religion... wouldn't ban either.
Realise how important religion is to some people.
I would ban footballers genuflecting as they come onto or, while they're on the pitch though. I think the rules about political and religious symbols on kit should extend to this public exhibition.
I don't know how people in the world that are genuinely suffering feel when a footballer attributes a goal to god's intervention. Get back to work god...stop playing football |

"If we banned football?
And religion?
"
Banning religion could be seen as restricting people's freedom of thought and we wouldn't want to live in a world where you could be punished for thought crime, would we?
I'd rather live in a society which guarantees religious freedom for all. That can only come about in a secular democracy with a godless constitution, such as the USA was supposed to be.
Banning football would leave thousands of people with nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon and deprive some very talented people of an opportunity to spout an incredible array of facts and figures.
Rather than banning either,I think it would be a better world if people just kept their allegiance to either to themselves.
Religion and football would cause much less trouble if they were both kept as private matters. |

Just ban the professional game. I still love to play and grass roots is the true game for anyone.
As for religion, it's the folk that pervert it's true intent that fuck it all up for the rest of the world. And there will always be people that need to believe in something.

Ban football and competitive tiddlywinks would take its place.
Ban religion and something else would take its place.
It isn't football or religion causing the problems its the people playing anf practising. They'll still be doing the same stuff but using a different justification. |

People hurt people... if you banned religion.. there would still be a system in place (man made) which will still cause conflict... the wars in the world are not fought over religion or sport... it's politics. ..
It will always be a case of who's got the bigger balls! |

"No - just slap a wage cap on the sport.
"
Why? Why is it only footballers people have a problem with. Why not stick a wage cap on musicians or actors? It's an entertainment industry and these players get paid accordingly. You might think it's obscene but most players are talented and work hard to get to the top of their game |

It's jealousy. Some people think because footballers are rich they're suddenly supposed to become perfect humans. Football is a working class game. Go to all the poorer areas of the world and more often than not the past time is football. Some of these lads grow up to be players so are going from nothing to extreme wealth. Their behaviour is bound to be off sometimes. |
