I have an arty family, so I’m going to see what songs make you sing, alll songs must come from musical films or theatre. Now I could start us off with infamous songs from my favourite les miserable, but to start you off how about two American hard guys singing in paint your wagon!
Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood
“I was born under a wandering star”
Now you guys fill us with 1 great song each, so make it count!! |

I sing all the time indoors and love musicals. Today I was singing songs from Les Mis; tomorrow it could be Funny Lady.
I do love a bit of Disney though. |

Wicked - As Long As You’re Mine
Sung by Elphie and the usually delicious Fiyero. Always makes my eyes leak. That line ‘Somehow I’ve fallen under your spell, and somehow I’m feeling its up that I fell’ I’m a soppy old bitch. |

Should have added that I sing this a lot and my unusual vocal range makes other people’s eyes leak - I sound like a bag of cats |

I and adore musicals, they all make me sing, they don’t show enough on telly for me though, nearly every Saturday afternoon you could flick on Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Doris Day or Howard Keel belting out a hit or dancing around some fantastic setting, bring back the musicals of my childhood someone pleeeassssseee |

Oh my - love musicals. Listen to them more than any other type of music which is not usual for a straight guy!
Love The Producers, Jesus Christ Superstar, Book of Mormon, Beautiful, Chicago, Chess, Once, Rent and enjoying the soundtrack from Hamilton though I doubt I'll see it.
But a favourite song? Oh so many. 'Hold it Flash Bang Wallop' from Half a Sixpence, 'This is the Moment' from Jekyll & Hyde, 'Heaven on their Minds' from JCS, 'Master of the House' in Les Mis, plus One Day More, "Feed Me' from Little shop....just too many.
Couple of great musicals that have been big in the States but not here yet: 'Come From Away' is the story of a provincial airport that takes flights coming across the Atlantic on the day of the 9/11 strikes.
'Something Rotten' - amazed that this hasn't hit the West End yet as its the tale of playwright in the time of Shakespear who is his biggest rival. Very funny, and catchy songs including 'God I Hate Shakespeare', and 'It's Hard to the be the Bard'. Worth checking out!
Sorry, bit of a musical geek!! |

I enjoyed it.
I went to The Duchess of Malfi at the RSC Stratford on Avon on Wednesday. It's grisly but you have to go just to hear the counter tenor.

I saw that at the globe a couple of years ago for my daughter's 18th, 4 shows/plays in 3 days. I wasn't sure about the strange dance at the end, did they do something similar at RSC ?
Back on topic, current modern musical favourite "You'll be back" from Hamilton, going back a little bit further, "Freight" from the original Starlight Express.

Got in from work last night and caught on telly most of Singing in the Rain. I had the honour of meeting Gene Kelly's widow (she was much younger than him) last year in Glasgow when she gave a 3 hour talk about Gene and his work.
Such a lovely lady and heard some great personal stories about him.

Cannot listen to that song in the same light thanks to Malcolm McDowell |
