My first ever experience of a sauna was around 10 years ago; Sauna Almera in Holland. €25 for a whole day, completely sans apparel (save for the restaurant) and completely relaxed and informal. I thought it was awesome.
Fast forward to England, dear oh dear. To start with you have to join a naturist club to get away with no clothing and that's often in a shed - one place nearby even had a composting toilet! As for mainstream even Center Parcs falls well short of the mark.
This got me wondering why we don't have anything like Sauna Almera over here. Then it occurred to me - it would just fill up with perverts. In this respect the Dutch are way ahead, so sad.  |
