Sod all this talk of Christmas, what is everyone doing for New Years??
i have been dumped by my friends cos they are going off to Rome for a week 
so i am at a loose end, unless i can convince someone to take me to Rome   |

i hate new years eve...when i was a kid it was fab,the pubs shut and everyone went first footing.Now its pissed people desperately trying to convince themselves they are having a good time drinking warm flat champagne they have paid over the odds for the privilege of drinking in their local.
Then the fights start...as people look back over the year and their resentments and insecurities bubble to the drink fueled surface.
So whatever i do, i wont be going out  |

not sure what im doing this year ive got 3 weeks off work over christmas/new year so i might go off on a little new year holiday .....had a fab time last year at a gig where my friends were playing in their band then 4 days later one of them committed suicide , so this year will bring back some memories . |

I managed to get away to the canaries for the last few xmas's and nye's however I am thinking chams this year as I am staying on home soil to freeze my bits off :D |

Might do a swinging New Years Eve this year, should be much more fun than the usual 'vanilla' type |

I don't know what I'm doing next week let alone 3 months from now!!
If all fails on the job application front, I may well be homeless by then so what I'll be doing is trying to survive!
If I am back in a job, then chances are I'll be at home on my tod! I hate New Year's Eve, and am usually in bed by 10pm. All that hip hip hooraying and partying for what is just the end of another month, which just happens to be the end of the year. So what if it is?!  |

I went to Manchester last 31st, first time ever I'd been out of Scotland for the new year.
It was a culture shock. Very different from what I was used to.
Where I come from, old year's night is a time for reflection, to think of what, or who, has gone. The "out with the old".
The night doesn't really get going before 12, when it's "in with the new" and a fresh start.
The emphasis in Manchester seemed to be on new year's eve as the party night, with people going out at 6 or 7 in the evening and going home at 1 or whatever. 1 is when it's just getting going, usually.
I'm going to Edinburgh this year.
I got a bit maudlin last year around midnight cos I wasn't with my ain folk. |
