I swear you can get ANY question answered on Fabs - so post your questions here!!
Mine is this - what would I need to cut a galvanised steel mesh like a security panel in half - are we talking angle grinder or would there be a type of cutter that would do it??
Any idea who could cut one for me or supply it cut?? (I am south of London.)

"can get steel mesh cutters don't you have diy store near you "
They will cut galvanised security mesh? Any idea what kind of tradesman might have some - I only need them once lol!
I would imagine anything called a bolt cutter would do it?? |

"Look for a local steel fabricator..
does it need to be steel? Would some fencing roll not do the job?
I want it to be free standing so I think I need a sheet?"
If it needs support then a couple of posts and some fencing roll may be easier to get hold of, used to be a fabricators on the Redhill aerodrome site though not used him for ages so don't know if still open..
who or what are you trying to keep in or out? |

I am making a temporary movable mesh security 'gate' for a porch to prevent high velocity kitten escape!!
It's just under 8 ft across, so one panel cut in half, fixed at the sides with a little overlap in the middle to make a gate would be perfect. |

good climber the kitten, so mesh may not be a problem for them to climb..
some 6 or 9 mm mdf hinged to a couple of pieces of 2by1 fitted to the sides would also work but then you need a chippie..

Yeah, it's only for the occasional sneaky bolt through an open door so won't be left there long enough to do any climbing! |

Pha, angle grinder my arse, a 24 inch bolt cutter makes light work of a 2.5mm galvanised steel mesh, and having a good old horsey lady as your neighbour means there's one there for the borrowing lol!! |
