I first met Jamie McCartney about 9 years ago when i commissioned him to make plaster casts of my newborn granddaughter's hand and foot. Working from a tiny seafront studio in Brighton and surrounded by casts of random bodyparts and, that i could see, around half a dozen casts of vulvas. This was to be the start of an awe inspiring installation which we discussed at great length and i was immediately struck by his passion and vision.
The aim was to demystify the female genitals, to show that they are as unique as our faces and therefore try to reduce genital anxiety and the dysmorphia that comes with it. Increasingly relevant in this modern age of labiaplasty and our quest for the perfect vagina.
The finished installation now takes the form of a 9 metre polyptych comprising of 10 panels of 400 casts of vulvas from volunteers from all walks of life, including transgender, between 18 and 76 years old. Jamie McCartney has taken up the baton from the likes of Koons and Hirst and produced a piece that has caused quite a stir.
I sincerely recommend that you check it out (and show your daughters).

Hopefully this will help women and young girls realise everyone is different and that there is no such thing as perfection.

Wonder if it was painful taking it off?"
Not as painful as you might think, once the mould was removed the finer detailing was finished off by hand (no pun intended).

I've seen this on television and it was quite amazing!
Not one looked the same, all manner of shape and size and I have to say I would have drilled them all.

There was a famous groupie in the seventies that went around collecting casts of rock stars cocks. As part of a college art project... alegadly!
