York

They ought to drop their prices a bit then, less to do with Brexit and more with trying to be exclusive to Chelsea tractor driving red corduroy wearers if the York branch is anything to go by...

To me the stores seem very stuck in the psat and don't seem to be doing anything to adapt to how the high street and society have changed.

"It is not good news for this giant, is this another one that will fall under brexit uncertainly?"

Seriously... you think this has to do with Brexit?

The rise of online shopping, coupled with the fact that "high end" shops like this charge ridiculous prices are the problem.

They don't though - they may have some higher quality goods than other stores, but their motto is 'never knowingly undersold', they don't charge more.

Having gone through the uncertainty of redundancy when Comet went under I agree that profits down that much is very disturbing. I also feel for the staff at the likes of Toysrus and Maplins.

The High Street is now digital.

John Lewis/Waitrose will survive.

Next to fall will be Mothercare and Homebase.

When business rates are double or more than your rent, plus internet shopping. It's not rocket science as to why shops are closing down. Sod all to do with brexit, more like shops being used as showrooms. Then people go home and order online.
