What an odd thing to say 
We are a bi couple and happy to accept other people’s sexuality. We have a straight guy who sometimes joins us when we have a bi group round. In the ten + years I have know him, he is still straight. That’s just one example. |

I'm a bit puzzled how the OP made such a bold statement, followed by no further participation in the various points raised to back up the claim?
Bit of a whitewash statement I think. I'm sure there's plenty who are that won't admit it, but there's plenty who are completely straight....who cares anyway? |

Obviously but I think this debate is arguing that there's no such thing as straight or one such preference as gay or lesbian , and were all bisexual? But I take your point. |

One person's bi is another person's normal.
The problem with labels is they never fit the person. We are all on a gender and sexual lineage and no one person would ever be anything all through their life. They will move or alter even in the smallest of ways during their life. In order to understand whether are or are not anything we would have had to have the experience, in thought or deed, to understand we were or wasn't. Society puts us in boxes labels to feel more safe, sometimes we choose the box or the label to be accepted.

I have given this a lot of thought.
My conclusion is all those who would like to have sex with selected people of either gender are probably bi sexual.
All those who would like to have sex with selected people of one or the other gender are probably not bi sexual.
All those who mainly want to have sex with selected people of one or the other gender, but sometimes think they may like to have sex with people of the opposite gender to their normal choice are try sexual.
And that is all my thinking for today

Of course there are. But a general look through couples profiles will perhaps reveal that around 60-70% of women are bi or curious, compared to around 5% of men... 
These numbers just don't add up do they? |

It's well documented that there is a spectrum of sexuality with people who are completely heterosexual and have absolutely no interest in sex with someone of the same gender at one end and people who have absolutely no interest with sex with someone of the opposite gender at the other - in between there are varying degrees of bi-sexuality ranging from a curiosity (that is never acted upon) to what it would be like to have sex with someone of the same gender through to curiosity to what it would be like to have sex with someone of the opposite gender at the other end.
So to suggest everyone is bisexual is inaccurate to say the least |

Theres plenty of men who have sex with other men. But they're not gay, and i doubt most are even bi. Bisexual would mean that someone would have a relationship ship with either sex. Absolute rubbish, there have been many times in my life where women were at least scarce if not non existent.

As someone who is bi but have a clear preference for one gender. I'd agree that people are on a sexuality spectrum. Straight to queer. I fall 3 quarters along that spectrum.
It's hard work being bi as it holds more prejudice than other places on the spectrum. Due to both straight and queer people having issues. I suspect that there's an element of that prejudice in the OPs post. Just mentioning bisexuality can inflame people.
No bisexuality is not a default. But I suspect there's more of us than the wider society know because prejudice means we keep it quiet.
Oh and there's also the straight guys who think all bisexual women are porn stars for their own personal entertainment but are disgusted by bisexual men. There's a clear double standard. |
