"Any suggestions how to keep hair dry when swimming.
I know swimming caps help but they're difficult to put on, squash your face and give you a headache.
"
They come in different sizes. But you're best off staying away from the tight rubber ones. Failing that shave your head lol |

Is it keeping it dry or keeping chlorine out that's more the issue? I have dyed hair, I get it saturated with the shower water before I get in as that stops the colour stripping quite well, plus Boots and others have products to protect your hair from sun and chlorine. |

It's a solution but not one I'm willing to use. |

Both. I have to style my hair every time I wash it and I swim three times a week. I don't have the time or patience to wash, condition, treat and style it three times a week. I was hoping to keep it at twice a week. |

Get a curly perm. You wash it and leave it to dry naturally. |

"You’re using the wrong kind of hat, are you wanting it to stay dry to protect it?
I'm not using any type of cap at the moment just the head out of the water and avoid splashy swimmers method."
A good silicone cap the thicker the better, powder as described above between uses. To protect your hair Boots have a product as mentioned above. Apply a small amount of the conditioner to the length of your hair not the roots before putting the cap on |

I'm trying to avoid more chemicals and an 80s look |

Thank you. This seems to be the way forward but I might use a leave in conditioner to avoid the constant washing. |

Use an empty pool.
Buy one of the huge flowery caps they are so roomy or use one of the material ones.
It all keeps the chemicals off.
I still rinse after. |

"Keep your head out of the water.
Trust me I try but the back still gets wet. I'm one of those women who swims along with my head right out of the water "
Me too, tie it up on top of head, works for me |

An empty pool...there's a thought. Saves taking a towel too.

Without a doubt. I'm a bit worried I might drive the men at the pool we go to crazy with lust. |

"Don't tell anyone I do this and only you can read this.
It won't keep your hair 'air' dry BUT
I oil up my hair before swimming too ..... naughty but good for my hair.
"
*whispers* I won't breathe a word. The thought had occurred to me too. |

"You can get bands that go around your ears stops the hair at the back getting wet.
I did look at them, they'd be easier to get on and off too.
Worked for my daughter. "
Great, thank you. I'll definitely consider one. |

They work well if you keep your head out of the water - not the best swimming technique though |

Try not to use too much conditioner as the caps have a tendency to slide off if you do, there is large size swim caps but most people find the standard size fits.
They are different thicknesses depending on the make, speedos are quite thick, maru and uglies are quite thin though more prone to split

Thanks. Who'd have thought it would be so difficult to buy a swim cap. |

"Wait till you have to try and get goggles that won't leak"
I can imagine it's an almost impossible task. I doubt I'll ever have to try though, I'm a happy splasher rather than a dedicated swimmer. Just trying to keep myself as fit as possible into decrepitude |

Let me know when you move on to open water swimming, it gets even more complicated |

I wouldn't hold your breath . I'm a rubbish swimmer. We go to keep ourselves moving as we trip merrily into our 60s |
