We come across myriad profiles where people describe themselves as "athletic". One glance at the pics and we find that this is not the case at all, is it me or has the word taken on a whole new meaning? |

People just don't understand what athletic means. I see most of the slim people on here as average. |

No thats just fit. You need visible muscle definition to be considered athletic. "
Could you be fit without muscles though |

"As I'm on the topic-what does "average" really mean? "
I describe myself as athletic because i don't consider myself to be average in terms of physique, but why should we waste time with semantics? People can describe themselves however they want, it's up to others to decide whether they agree or not, at the end of the day is it really that big a deal? |

Don't laugh too loudly but we once met a person in Bristol (we live on Gower, South Wales-so that's a fair way to go for us) whose profile pics were at least 15 years old; we were newbies and walked right into that one. |

Shouldn’t matter what anyone calls themselves.
Would a regular marathon runner be athletic or slim?
I can’t decide between athletic (works out 3-4times a week in the gym) or average, it really shouldn’t matter one single bit, celebrate your bodies everyone |

I didn't say youre right but whatever. I'm training for a cycle ride 280 miles in 3 days. I can swim frout crawl 3 miles. I train 10 hrs a week or so...so it's your opinion which you are entitled too.

I do look at what people list as the "body type" but more out of curiosity than anything. TBF - we like to see a few full length pics and decide from there. For us it's not about which category you fit in but whether we like the look of the pics or Not! |

Not much, and you are more slender than the 'visual type' you claim to belong to, in my opinion. You look like you could run for a bus but not sure you'd be able to lift much weight.
Distance runner type I would say, cyclist maybe, not swimmer or sprinter. I like a bit of muscle bulk, like a sprinter. |

"If you can still run for a bus, your athletic
No thats just fit. You need visible muscle definition to be considered athletic.
I would consider you slim not athletic.
Why is that? I have visible muscle definition.
I can deadlift 160kg and squat 140kg for 10 reps. I'm 70kg."
Is that considered weak? |

"Really hard not to come across as a proper dick on this thread haha
It's always a down hill slop
Not to continue the trend but you'd be better suited in average.
Oh a body expert...yay
I seem to have a better idea than alot of people on this site. I've seen girls that have their body type as athletic and I'd be able to get a good handful of fat in my hand.
May I just check. Are you by any chance studying to join the diplomatic core "
Hahaha! I just laughed so hard my handfuls of fat jiggled |

No idea, I just get the little dumbells and wave them around for 45 minutes to some rave track.....I'm only going by APPEARANCE, as I believe you were saying...... |

When it comes to this stuff everyone is a dick. Nobody likes being told their body doesn't fit into a category they think it does. "
My body category is most men love it and I defo look better naked or wrapped in sexy underwear |

XY is athletic as he is lean which shows his muscle tone. He doesn't really like describing himself as such though
XX is average - neither slim nor larger and not lean enough to show her muscle tone |

I think it's because he sees himself as y and he thinks others may expect the term athletic to mean built-like-Arnie |

This might be controversial, but would athletic describe someone who looks like they would be good at, oh I don't know, athletics?
Then someone who is stacked, ripped, buff etc can fight over whatever term is left?

"We come across myriad profiles where people describe themselves as "athletic". One glance at the pics and we find that this is not the case at all, is it me or has the word taken on a whole new meaning? "
There is a really wide definition of athletic on Fab! Also some folk use it to describe how they were 5 years ago! |

For his weight, it is intermediate, I believe.
Not sure I believe it, mind, powerlifters in his weight category tend to be incredibly muscular with a low bf% |

This has been an entertaining thread do far. These always go tits up
Just to be awkward. .. Hammer you are slim but Oreo can justify describing himself as athletic (in my opinion)
I consider curvy to be a shape and only suitable for ladies.
To be fair the options are pretty crap, so you just look at the photos.

And you can have your big bulky sprint type athletes and then the leaner tiny long distance types. Both very different to look at but both athletic. So best to just look at peoples pics |

I agree with oreo being athletic but do you not think I'm toned enough to be athletic? I always thought I was, but I did make this when my abs werw clearly visable. |

Sorry, but I would consider slim to be a more accurate description of your body shape. I would describe distance runners as slim although they are athletic in habit.
I really don't care how people choose to describe themselves, as long as they have decent body photos... you do.
