Who's commentary sums up which sport? Asking because the chap currently doing the snooker isn't it!

For me it's got to/had to be:

Golf: Peter Allis

Cricket: Richie Bernaud

Rugby Union: Bill McClaren

Football: Motty

Who else anybody?

Cricket: Was John Arlott for me. I spent a lot of time on holiday in a caravan as a child. Listening to the cricket on Radio 4 was a fond memory and John Arlott’s gruff tones are still the voice I think of first when cricket is mentioned

Can agree with you on that, when I did listen to the cricket on the radio he was the man.

John motson is an absolute bellend, his commentary is awful. Agree with sid waddell and murray walker though.

For me Peter Jones was the voice of radio football commentaries as I grew up, initially on Radio 2 then Radio 5 when that was launched and the Saturday afternoon sports broadcast moved there. He is possibly most famous of course for his commentary of the horrific events unfolding at Hillsborough on that fateful day.

"Darts - Sid Waddell "

I used to love Sid's commentary. Murray Walker will always be the voice of F1 for me. And on a more obscure note, I used to love Pat Summerall and John Madden doing the American football commentary.

Loved John Madden's commentaries back in the day - the Madden MegaDrive games kept me occupied for hours in the 90s too
