I was in a tattoo shop today enquiring about cover ups on both forearms and biceps.

Cover ups are no problem she advised and when discussing how I wanted to do them she advised I could pay 400 for the full day .

This would get all the work done in one day, flowers and trailing stems down the arm. My others I had no problems with it just seems a long time .

Interested to know if anyone else has sat for a full days tattooing and how it was .

I've had 3 seperate tattoos that were full day sittings, my arms were ok, bit tender after a while but my shoulder was the most painful, in the afternoon i bled more and i felt faint/lightheaded, took a break and carried on but was extremely painful....it doesn't stop me wanting another

Slough Windsor ish

I had my thigh done in a full day sitting...10am - 5pm. It was a little uncomfortable towards the end, i was semi laying on my right side and just couldnt get comfy. I also began to bleed alot as the artist worked over certain areas.

Wouldnt stop me doing it again

This is just what I'm looking for

Did you take painkillers or anything ? as though it's not complete agony getting a tatt , I can imagine the constant pain to get a bit wearing .

I'd rather do it in one day as can buy short sleeve stuff as the tats I have are rubbish. 400 and done in one day will be cheaper I reckon and so much simpler .

Longest I've sat for is 3 hours and it was hell.

You can get some decent creams online which help (anything with lidocaine) but they only last about 2-4 hours depending on the area

"

What area was it ? this will be biceps and forearms with few stems/branches to join up both and allow it to be carried on over shoulders and down body in the future.

Original ones in those areas never hurt to bad to be fair. Though they only ranged from 40 mins to an hour an half ish .

I'm tattooed all over and find everywhere extremely painful but it depends in the person.

Is it your first tattoo? If so I'd suggest booking 2 hours first in the desired area and seeing how you get on

No it's 4 cover ups ranging from 3-5 " on each one . Forearms and biceps and a few trailing stems to join them up.

I had no trouble with last ones but they weren't all done at once

I sat over 6 hours getting my sternum piece done, wasnt painful but got uncomfortable towards the end

somewhere in the Shire of Derby

I've done full days but I fall asleep as I've got a high pain threshold. Best thing to do is keep taking a little break and getting up and walking around and make sure you eat and drink at regular intervals.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking it's going to get uncomfortable , but I'm going to go for it , purely to get it all done in one day

I had one for 4 hours and for the last 2 hours it was really painful. Had another for 5 hours with an hour break in the middle but that was worse. I prefer him to just carry on. Once he stops even for a drink break I just want to escape!

If it's a few smaller ones in separate areas you might be ok. I've never taken any painkillers for them.

Only done a full day sitting once and wasn’t a fan.

Went up onto my shoulder where it’s all boney and down into my armpit, hurt like fuck.

Felt like I’d been hit by a train when I got home.

Done 6 hours but my arm started rejecting the ink so had to stop.

Got an all day sesh on monday.

You'll need breakfast and sugars.... all day sittings can be knackering.

I was told cover-ups are more painful as you're going over scar tissue. I find its after a certain time, just scratching over the same piece for hours, thats what it feels like lol

I've never taken painkillers

I’ve done four and a half hours.

Going over and over one area gets pretty intense. You kinda get into a zone and blank it out though.

I always feel very tired the next day.

Cover ups are more painful than the original tattoo.

And the bleeding is a problem for you, the more you bleed, the more likely it is to heal patchy and the colour to fall out, especially white and yellow.

I've sat for several full day sittings. They hurt, but much more satisfying as you get to see a finished piece.

I have a peacock that goes from ribs to foot on my left side, I did 5 full day sessions.

Average length of my sitting was 10 hours....it takes time!

I would question any tattooist who thinks he can do a cover up of a sizeable piece of ink in a singLe sitting. It's not tattoo fixers

Depends on the size, the detail involved, if it's black n grey or colour, how you sit for it and the speed of tattooist. G

All old tattoos and she reckons faded enough not to be a bother , flowers and stems to cover with so nothing to detailed .

Seen some of her cover up work and she has done a good job.

Yup....it is nowhere near as bad as you imagine...and 3 hours of discomfort for a lifetime of prettyness is a very fair exchange x

I can tolerate about 2 hrs before it gets to me, so tend to book 2 hr slots. I know any more would not be good. Ive done 3 hrs once and nearly passed out towards the end.

It took 16 hours for my sleeve but it all depends on the detail in the tat, it's not that painful but the bend in your elbow part hurts the most.

I had my last one in August. I still remember the pain. That’s the issue. I’ll woman up eventually!

I can do 3 hours and not really any longer, I'm lucky my tattoo guy is quick and I can usually get the bulk of it done in the 3 hours.. The last one I had was 3 hours and it needs probably another hour Max.its a full thigh (front of thigh) and is in keeping with the other leg. Bleeding should really be minimal though.. I've had some that bled profusely but the recent ones and possibly change in artist may have been the reason .
