That's been the call where I live, asking for volunteers to help nurses get out to patients. To deliver meds and generally help people who are stuck. No double it will be the same in many other areas.
The question is...what the hell are they going to do once they've got rid of all the 4x4s off of the roads....The shit will hit the fan again. |

In most parts of this country we get less than 1 week a year of snow. Generally for 90% of the population it is 1 to 2 days where movement is difficult.
Really not worth making plans for beyond stocking up on essentials for a few days during the winter months.
I don't understand the panic. I plan to fly home today, into the red zone. If I can't fly in today, I will stay here a few days longer, nothing much will change. The few rural areas where people do get cut off, well they have tractors. |

"Winter tyres will always be better than a 4x4 with summer/all season tyres"
District Nurses and Carers have Winter tyres fitted as standard around here. Still no good on a car if the snow is deep. |

"Saw the post last night so gave a hand. The plus point was that the local pub was used as a muster point so they were doing all helpers a big burger. "
What British will do for a burger ... lol
Ryan is out of country until tomorrow and I asked some fit guys who lives close I'd they would clear some snow
The request was to allow me to go from garden flat french doors to covered hot tub as I am having a girly night tonight and fizz and hot tub goes down well.
The bargaining I got was ... how much will you pay me to can I go into tub after I fuck your pussy. .. really is that how we treat out fellow citizens ... what is in it for me hen lol ...
I then said I will write a cheque for 30.00 and make out to your favourite charity and you can post ... They said NO. ..
Forget it. .. I will put my legs in black bags as I do not have wellingtons and will clear snow myself ...
If they had asked for a burger I would have struggled with that one two. |

Glad you brought the question up.
It will be a shout out to all the farmers in their tractors, they will be the only ones who will have the vehicles to get through the snow. |

Most 4x4 drivers are utter wankers with no idea or driving skill, I've towed many out stuck in hedgerows and ditches using a 2 wheel drive van with snow chains on .
The bit they always fail to understand is stopping power in a 4 wheel drive is exactly the same as a 2 wheel drive |

I think that s a bit of a generalisation and I do not consider myself one of those... but my 4 wheel drive PLUS winter tyres does get me everywhere and enables me to help others as well. I agree you need to still consider stopping distances etc. |

No not ALL but as I said most, most people that own a 4x4 have never had any off road lessons, they've got no idea about tyres or diffs or driving style and they nearly always forget breaking distances are pretty much the same, unfortunately unlike most 2 wheel drive owners they insist in going out in snow storms thinking their 4x4 will save them

" That s true - and tbh I do not understand why people insist on getting out in their cars, 4 x 4 or not, in weather warnings such as we had in the last few days. It puts extra strain on resources eg when they have to be rescued. It is beyond me... |
