"Even Leonard Cohen admits that Jeff Buckley's version of hallelujah is better than his own original."
And maybe his version of Lilac Wine better than Nine Simone''s but I feel dirty saying it.
Wild Horses by Susan Boyle
Yeah he said it |

Not necessarily better but just as good as the original:
Madness - One Step Beyond
Madness - It Must Be Love
The Commitments - Try A Little Tenderness
The Jam - Heatwave
The Beat - Tears Of A Clown
Mike Flowers Pops - Wonderwall
Muse - Feeling Good |

If you like covers done with originality (Yeah I know ) check out Walk Off The Earth. Their version of Adele's Hello (Most unexpected cymbal crash ever) and Avici's Somebody That I Used To Know (Five guys playing on one guitar) make me gossebumpy. |

Seether - Careless Whisper

Reel Big Fish - Take On Me
Killswitch Engage - Holy Diver
And for the curve ball I'm a massive of Coheed And Cambria version of The Trooper.

Just listed to this, it is wonderful
So many people love this. I can't stand it. The original is such a great song."

I’m not saying all are better than the original but they’re up there ....
* Freedom Fry - “Smells like teen spirit” (not saying it’s better - just a quirky take on it)
* Cowboy Junkies version of “Sweet Jane”
* A few good versions of “Goodbye Horses” - psyche : Kele
* Echo and the bunnymen - “people are strange”

Have to agree. The disturbed version is an abomination. Totally terrible. Bland. |

I'm probably being swayed because I liked The Hangover 11 and it's more of a remix than a cover version as such but,
Vinylshakers- One Night in Bangkok. |

"Girls Aloud - See the Day
I like Dee C Lee’s version but it’s a bit quiet. If you’re going to sing a ballad then put your back into it luv "
I'll see your Girls Aloud and raise you a Sugababes - I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor

Posted this in another music thread today (guitar licks) but fits here too....
nirvana - “where did you sleep last night”. Joe Banfi also did a haunting cover of this (I think it’s an old American Folk Song”)
