I read some quote on here yesterday about the beast from the east spoiling things. Thought it was someone's profile name.

Apparently scientists believe female names are less threatening and by giving storms names it raises awareness of them more easily. Names are picked off a alphabetical list

That’s cheating..

If Emma was chosen from a alphabetical list then next alphabet is F not B lol

I’m starting a petition

The spanish called the storm Emma. The press coined the best phrase.

It’s wrong way of doing it.. names should be given based on how bad the storms are.. I know Simon.. he never moved a glass of water

The best you can hope for is for it to blow over and try and ride the rest of it out

What's the point in naming a storm anyway?

Does it lessen the fear of them?

Does it increase fear?

Is it just some weather wallys way of helping to generate more headlines?

I look out of the window, see that it's blowing a gale, and think 'oo, it's blowing a gale'. I don't think 'there goes Emma, creating havoc, and queues at the supermarket.'

.

I think they could be a bit more creative with the names, like storm Beelzebub
